Airbus A340-300 - Olympus Airlines

Airbus A340-300 - Olympus Airlines

Airline: Olympus Airlines
Aircraft: Airbus A340-300
Livery: 1991-2009
Aircraft delivery date: 27 March 2000

Olympus Airlines first acquired the Airbus A340-300 in late 1999 to replace its aging Douglas DC-10 aircraft. At its peak the airline operated 10 of the type, which was reduced to 5 following the airline's restructuring in 2009 and the canceling of all but three of the airline's long haul destinations. The A340 fleet never wore the airline's 2009 livery, being the last type to retain the 1991 livery until its replacement with new A330s in 2015.

The airline's logo depicts winds over Mount Olympus, the tallest mountain in Greece and namesake for the airline.

Template by medviation, and thanks to Pilot8 for the original logo and livery concept.

I do believe this has been pointed out before, but the tail logo shares no connection with the rest of the brand.

I explained that on the Olympus BAe livery; the logo is supposed to depict winds over Mt. Olympus, the airline's namesake. It seemed redundant to post that a second time in the description.

Ya but the problem is that nobody was able to identify the logo without you explaining it. It's an interesting logo, I just don't think its jiving with the overall design.

All good designs have a graphic scheme that goes along with their subject matter. For example: American Airlines uses a Red White and Blue Eagle... imagery which is easily associated with America. Quantas is Australian, hence the Kangaroo... the two can be logically paired together. Some of us had a hard time distinguishing what the logo meant, at first I thought it was just a couple of wavy lines.

Fair point, but I personally think the logo still suits this fine. Sure, it doesn't scream that it's a Greek airline, but if the average person looks at it for a moment or two considering the airline's name and location they'll likely make the connection.

Besides, I'm not sure what could be used as a Greece-specific logo aside from the Olympic rings that the real Olympic Airlines already uses.

That's all well and good, but it makes it a s*** brand.

I feel like I've seen the tail logo in other places before.

This looks like an appropriate older livery (like earlier 2000s). Interested in seeing a more modern rendition.
