AeroCalifornia DC-9-30

Proud to be the first to debut Med's fabulous DC-9 template, the jet that made AeroCalifornia the largest airline based on the west coast.

The airlines first aircraft a DC-9-30 arrived in San Diego in 1971 flying to San Francisco and Oakland, AeroCalifornia grew as an intrastate carrier acquiring 3 additional DC-9s opening services to Fresno, Palm Springs and Sacramento.

By 1978 deregulation came and the airline already had a strong network within the state, its first route outside California was SAN-SEA establishing it as one of the best airlines on the west coast. By 1985 the fleet had grown to over 90 aircraft of multiple types including the BAe-146 and Boeing 757.

Today the airline in the top 5 largest low-fare airlines operating in the US with a fleet of mainly Boeing 737 series and is also the largest Boeing 717 operator with 58 in the fleet, the airline also runs 757s on transcontinental and Hawaii and Embraer E190s on shuttle flights within California.
