This is your personal opinion. I'm not here to make money or impress anybody. That's what I do in my spare time and Im gonna keep doing it, being original or not. And whats the problem with the software? Works pretty fine for me.
I personally don't see a problem with this concept whatsoever. So what if he's using a real company name in this case, the paintjob itself is original and the idea isn't so far fetched: Carnival Air Lines was a real airline similar to this owned by Carnival Cruises and Crystal Luxury Air is a real charter airline owned by Crystal Cruises. He's done more here than "transcribing it onto another medium poorly".
Paint.net isn't the best tool, but it seems to be working fine here.
For the livery itself, I'd suggest moving the titles to the right so they're off the door and/or making them smaller. Some polishing on the aircraft edges may also be a good idea.
I personally don't see a problem with this concept whatsoever. Let me rephrase myself.
The action of "taking existing, decent brands from real life and transcribe it onto another medium poorly on an unpopular software" isn't original on this forum. I myself have a whole gallery on American legacy carriers reimagined right now. This livery isn't the worst thing I've seen, but A: the livery really doesn't align with the RCI brand and B: it's not an improvement of the RCI brand. At least, like you said, this is just my personal opinion, also posted here for free.
Here're a couple simple pdfs on the RCI brand if you care for it.
That way, maybe you could use they colour codes on those blobs, and/or their choice of Gotham(ew) font, or maybe put a ship's name on it. I don't know, I don't think I care.
As for PaintNet, I only said it's unpopular, because iirc Gimp is just more advanced with more functions all around. Not that I would know, I use Adobe.
Like I said in the persona of Dr. Evil, there's potential, don't let it go to waste.
