Noshakh Airways - Boeing 727-200Adv

Noshakh Airways - Boeing 727-200Adv

Airline: Noshakh Airways
Aircraft: Boeing 727-200Adv
Livery: 2002-Present
Aircraft delivery date: 12 July 2002 (Used)

Noshakh Airways is a privately-owned airline headquartered operating in Afghanistan. Founded by foreign investors after the US Invasion of Afghanistan and overthrow of the Taliban, Noshakh operates as the flag carrier of Afghanistan and took over most of the operations of the previous state-owned airline that was grounded by the war. The airline primarily serves domestic destinations, along with a handful of international destinations to neighboring countries. For a time, the airline also operated a Kabul-London (Heathrow) route.

This aging aircraft was retired in 2014, with the rest of the 727 fleet following soon after. Currently, the airline operates a handful of used A320s and a single 757-200. The airline takes its name from Noshakh, the tallest mountain in the country and its logo represents both the mountain and the rest of the Hindu Kush mountain range.

I decided to try something a little different with the background, with the aircraft flying over the city of its primary hub. Thoughts?

Yeah don't do the cities in the background thing. It seems like a good idea until you realize that you can't read the name of the airline against a blue sky. Stick to simple backgrounds, it draws more focus to the livery anyway.

727s until 2014? I don't think that's right, unless it has been overhauled 4 times... it's gotta be 30-40 years old, huh?

Many real Afghanistan airlines used very dated aircraft until recently, Ariana Afghan kept their 727s in use until well into the 2010s.

Given that there's still DC-3s in pax + cargo service (albeit irregular airlines rather than flag carriers) around the world I don't think having 727s until 2014 is that unrealistic. Not every country in the world can afford (or is allowed to) buy brand new planes ;)

Personally I find the blue a bit too bright but otherwise this livery is quite nice ^_^
