I am a very large airline, AE 7, 1990-2005. now at the end of 2002.
My airline, Air France, is the number 3 in the world for already many years.

but from the beginning of this world i hate the airlines who fly on short-haul routes (dominestic and non-dominestic) with wide-body aircrafts (B747/767/777 A330/340 etc.) i think this is very unrealistic.
I can remember in the (real world) 1990's that for example KLM or Martinair flew with their 747's to the 'holiday-routes' but thats decades ago.
can't we do something against this?
what i said about im the number 3, it was not to be, you know cool and populair and stuff. what i want to say is; financial it's not a problem for me that airlines put huge aircrafst on short haul flights, but it's just annoying me.

In Asia that happens in RL with Cathay, SQ, etc. flying 777s and A330s on short trips, and with Emirates as well. So there it wouldn't be unrealistic, but I agree that having a WB on, say, London–Paris, is ridiculous (even though AF has some A380 trips there :death2: )

AF don't fly with their A380 between london-paris.
In the summer of 2010 they flew this route with the a380 as promotion flights. but it was just for the summer.

I can imagine that the asian airlines do this, but european airlines..? (real)
but we can't do something against this?

Air Canada has 777s and 767s on non-hub "regional" flights.

hmm okay, than is it maybe more realistic than I thought.
but because of their higher fuel low, is it less or more profitable than a short-haul aircraft?
you're frequency is lower with a bigger aircraft, so you can fly more on those airports, and fly more routes with the aircraft than a small short-haul aircraft.

ANA and JAL each have 14 daily flights on HND-ITM (mostly 777s and 767s). It's not unrealistic in real life.

Players flooding routes in the game...that's been going on since the beginning of AE. Arbitrarily limiting frequency or aircraft size is unrealistic and doesn't solve the problem - they'll just use more and/or smaller aircraft to do the same thing.

unbelievebale, you say; ANA and JAL have EACH 14 daily flights on HND-ITM with mostly 777s and 767s.
i just rechearched the route on AE, 1200 daily passengers.

let say the minimum, JAL and ANA use the 767, about 300 seats. 28 x 300 = 9200 daily seats! i can't imagine that..

maybe wide body aircraft can only fly 800 miles and beyond (sort of like cyber airlines) :/

??

for example a 767 can fly over 6000 miles.
HND-ITM is about 200 miles.

He means that those aircraft would have to fly over an 800 mile route oneway, there would be a rule that said you couldn't fly those aircraft on routes under 800 miles even though the aircraft could physically fly that route. Hope this helps.

But thats not realistic at all...
AF used their A380s LHR-CDG for a while last year - thats a lot less than 800 miles

I've said this before, that was for crew training and promotion flights. it was only for a month.

In AE 3.1 they will have a "penalty" anyway (on route reputation) if they use too large AC on those short haul routes, as their frequencies will be much lower than those using single aisle AC´s, won´t they?
I think it would be less realistic if there´s a cap in range for widebodies (even less in open worlds..., where nearly "everything" is allowed).
As far as i know, Lufthansa has also been using 747´s on FRA-MUC, FRA-TXL, and other domestic routes for a while, and Iberia A-340-600 on the MAD-BCN when demand justified it.
What I don´t like is if airlines set up routes offering 2 or 3 times, sometimes even 4, the demand figure (no matter what AC type), but that also seems to be much more difficult in AE 3.1. as profitability seems to be falling more rapidly than in 3.0 when offering too many seats.

Cheers,

rgss

In some cases, the AE numbers don't match up. This is one of them :P

yes, i believe you. but just for me, it looks unbelievable that 9000 people per day want to fly this route.

Does it matter ?

So what if people are using large aircraft on short routes and it's unrealistic, just means its more than likely they'll profit less than you.
