Ok, I am absolutely lost even after viewing the introduction youtube video. I realized I made something wrong so I decided to declare bankruptcy and hoping to start a new leaf. Guess what? I am now in a worse situation than before because they don't even give me a free plane to start up! Now I don't not enough money to purchase 2 different gates or even a plane to earn money back! I'm totally stuck in a limbo. Is there a way for an absolutely reset? Otherwise I might just quit because I just fell through an endless loop of no-money-can't-buy-gates and no-gates-means-no-money-earned.
A beginner needs help

When you start again you should get a page that let's you choose your plane and starting city. Are you saying that after you declared bankruptcy and logged in again that this did not happen?
After you declare bankruptcy you need to log out and login again!

I can't, I used up the 1x bankruptcy/week quota. Bleh, this game is too punishing for beginners. And btw, the youtube video is outdated so that's why even when I followed its procedures I still bumped into walls

I don't think that it takes long to understand. Finding out which routes work, that can take a while. I think, for beginners, you should play around with the game for one round. Don't expect to get to the top starting out. However, that is not everyones goal either. I like to pick a few airports and see how many cities I can reach with that (Even if I am losing money on them). Once sim2 Beta is open to the public. Everyone, minus the beta testers, are going to have to learn how to use the new system.
Don't get bent out of shape if you a struggling on ae. There are people here that would gladly help you guys/gals out.

I am new to the game and have found that you need to make some money with one or two planes then buy 5 or 6 gates, but a new plane or two (use your credit). Then fly each route one by one tell you see which ones work the best. Don't just buy one gate and hope it works. Make sure you look at the distance you plane can fly before buying the gates.

You learn the hard way.
Read the tutorial and try.
If you don't get it at first, try again.
On my 2nd shot at Sim 1 I ended up in the 80's (rank-wise) before that part of the DB got messed up.
This is my first shot at Sim 2 and it was a pretty rough start, but I've sorted out a few things and am finally back in the black. Don't get me wrong, my first few weeks were so bad I am still climbing back to a positive lifetime profit.
It's not easy for real airlines, so what makes you think it would be easy for us?

Well, you need to learn that sometimes, you need to buy gates and test routes and not just dump one plane per route, but make it fly various routes from one central location, so to maximise your earning potential.
Obviously, everyone would like to do their own thing, but follow that and your well on your way to succeed in AE.

Keep your usage as high as possible. If you can, get every plane working 22 hours a day.

heh, I worked my way up to spot 99 in 19 days... new player also, so it's not quite impossible.
what you can forget about now is competing with big planes on very known routes though.
LA - New York has like a gazillion planes on it, so it's not worth to even try, starting out.
but taking some 10k$ gates and putting a cessna on them might turn you into profit. Slowly but steady.
