Do you think it would work to have a low cost for renting a gate and then getting charged depending on the size of aircraft used at the airport?

For example, you pay about $171,000 per gate each month at YYZ whether you fly an A380 into there or a Beech 1900D. Because of this, some routes that can support only small planes (Beech to small Q Series) aren't profitable because of the high gate costs, while with a heavy you don't even notice the cost because it is so little. Why not pay a way smaller amount (I don't know how much) for renting the space and then charge a little bit for flying a small plane to the airport and lots for a big one?

I like that, but people can just change aircraft on routes:)

Well, if u look at YYZ in real life, it has one of the highest landing costs in the world for aircraft and thus, i guess in a way helps to keep the airport operating more smoothly than say JFK, which is always congested and crowded.

In the game, if we applied a landing cost structure, we could possibly have a way for people to pay a smaller amount for operating beeches while paying an increase amount for operating A380s. Of course, this is all depends on many things that would be need to be determined, so it was accurate and fair for all. :)

I vaguely recall reading recently that landing costs do not account for the size of the aircraft, which means the game is more realistic now than it would be with the proposed change.
