Is it me or is it imposible to make a dime in Sim 2 ?

I have tried all over the place big city, small city, big to small, small to big
and in different parts of the world, used both of the starter planes and same result. Can't even make enough to cover gate costs, any tips or are we just out till game 2 restarts ?

thanks

Sim2 is beta, Miller is trying out a few things, there are far too many established routes on locations that make $$$$ and too many airportsd that make Zero DOP.

Again, been said in past postsd that it needs a re-vamp and reset and a few adjustments to become a playable sim game.

Yeah, I've noticed that my DOP has been dropping rapidly also, down 300k over a few game months.

Heartland Airlines currently operates 50 daily flights to 46 cities from its two hubs in Kansas City, Missouri (MCI) and Raleigh, North Carolina (RDU). Its fleet includes three Beech 1900D and four Jetstream 31.

This sim2 is OK if there is like 10,000 routes set up, once it gets beyond this level, it takes a long time to compute the auto-pricing, thus making it slow and the more routes the more waiting time it takes, remember auto-pricing is a good idea but sim2 need to be like two real days to one AE month and aircraft delivery needs to be altered to slow the progress down of the explosion of routes that are established.

Sure, play the game, its slow and on some routes like HND to KIX you can take a bath and it still will be computing it pricing.

Reset is needed and bugs looked at and players will return, till then many have left their airline.

Money - Well my airline has 22 Billion in cash so its easy to make $$$$

Mine has dropped from 116M to about 25M so don't know why you are complaining ;) There again I haven't done anything for 2 1/2 weeks.

Sim 2
Well I found a few I can make a flight profit, but the over all cost, gate fees and fuel kills it.

Starting out with 19 seat plane and 5 mil. start up finances, its almost imposible for anyone else to join ( at least for me it is ) kinda defeats the mmo aspect of it. Right now you can't start out new and even get your foot in the door. You dont have enough start up cash to even buy a 37 seater. The cheepest is 12mil + and you start with 5mil - a couple gates you have to buy, you cant even order 1 plane and even go in the hole and climb out,

Don't get me wrong not complaining about game its very interesting and I enjoy the challenge. But maybe since its a beta, unless you testing hi end parts of the game maybe more often resets to get more in to test. Just my 2 cents worth

I did notice a couple of cities still with little traffic where money can be made but i'll leave that for you to sort out and experiment with.

Sim2 is the side of 2 evils really....

U either make plenty of money on those popular trunk routes, which means that 90% of other possible routes wont have anyone on them and be empty for most of the round.

While, flying to these smaller airports is pointless and makes em useless in the game currently.

I am hoping that these issues along with further advancements in the game, such as new additions to the game, to bring other possible aspects in the overall equation of running a streamlined airline allows for people to have different strategies and allows them to grow in different ways. Would keep it interesting for all yet everyone try to achieve the same goal... finish as the no.1 airline in the game.

Have made contact to Court, requestion a reset on sim2 plus gave a few suggestions to make the sim2 game last longer with little alterations, however I have asked that he look into the new listed locations to tickle them up a bit and the used market to be changed.

Time will tell

what does 8 years in have to do with it ? you should be able to open up a new airline a intrastate small even if its slow it should be able to make a profit now if its buged thats different, and it seems so, I guess I'll have to wait ;)

side note: In the real world ( and this is a simulation of it ) if everyone said well they been in business 8+ yrs and are huge so we can't compeat,. there wouldn't be Southwest, Virgin, Jetblue - just to name a few and all the others in all forms of business

Airlines like JetBlue and Virgin America has a HUGE amount of money pumped into them on start-up, so that helps them. You start with $5,000,000. Not so good.

Not a case of real world 8-yrs, it is to do with the server / compute time and amount of routes that mass within the games database.

Therefore, Glenn is refering to AE Game time not real world.

I have been playing this game for a number of years and it is getting better, it is a slow and painful process but it's getting there. Just tweaking the smaller airports will make things 100% better than it is now.

this will also stop the massive urge for people to get to number 1 in the rankings out of everyone that is playing. You could then have say 4 or 5 different rankings. Let's be honest, it's all about getting to number 1 in the end, that's why 99% play the game. There are a few that don't care and just do their own thing which I salute :sdrool:

Hear, hear! Best post I've seen for a while. You could have categories for example:

Best Worldwide Airline

Best Continental Airline

Best Country Airline

And further on you could re-shape the list any way you wish, i.e. fleet size, amount of cities served, amount of hubs, value, cash reserves, e.t.c.. O.K., I'm blabbering now, but do you guys see how we could make the game more competitive yet easier to play for all?

Well I've got no complaints. Starting off with $5m and two J31s you aren't going to grow quickly. So far I've managed (over three game years) to go up to 4 J31s so I'm quite happy. The routes are there if you spend time looking.

One query though is about aircraft acquisition; I woke up one morning to find I had bought a fourth J31 for about $10m, putting me $6m in the red. How does that happen?

Orion, i assume u placed a bit on the used aircraft market to purchase a J31 on the cheap. However, there does seem to be a problem with some of the purchases in that the game buys the most expensive and really, it wasnt what u wanted in the first place.

U are not the only one to have a similar issue, hopefully it gets fixed soon.
