Before I make donations....

AE is great game and I enjoy playing it. However, there are little things that bother me about the game that can and should be easy fixes.
1. The ability to sort columns
When I first started to play the game, we were able to sort the used aircraft list, new aircrafts by amount, hours, range... gates by number and slots available...etc
2. I'm from Canada so fixing the spelling in Ottawa, our nations capital shouldn't be that hard to do
3. The SQL Gates error... I know this is new problem, but it's an on going story. What's next.
There are other area that can be improved, but these are my top 3 pet-peeves.
Again, I understand maintaining the game is time consuming, but until I see basic fixes to the game, you will not be seeing any donations coming from me. (And I have considered it).

If you enjoy playing and like this game then donate. Be charitable and show your appreciation.

No one demanded that you pay anything, they simply asked....you're pretty demanding for someone who logs on, gets something from nothing, and then has nothing but a fix this or else attitude. You have someone with a love for aviation, with an ability to sort complex code, and he does it all for free....back off, say you're sorry and try again.

How about you get millers permission and edit/spell check every single city in the game.
Don't go marketing away the city team's job there!

Honestly, these are even issues NOT to donate to AE. Had u said the LF script in sim1 was and still is the major dilemma, then i would agree, but this... this is just picking grands of sand atm...
Miller did say if u were "interesting" in donating, then please do. Donations werent a request nor a firm action to be taken up by the community to expect something. So u wanting something in return to donate is a bit rich atm....
Oh well...

But I guess I'm the only one who is frustrated.
So fine, I'll make a large donation. Hopefully it will be enough to at least fix the spelling errors.

I dont think ur right on that point either. There is plenty of people here who are frustrated, irritated, concerned, waiting, etc.. who would and have say what problems are within AE and how the game development hasnt happened as expected.
Everyone here has a right to complain about the things AE lack and/or should be fixed, etc.. as it has been for ages (been like this for over the 3 years i being playing AE, so nothing's change!!! ), but no need to use it to justify it for not donating.
Its really simple.. u can either donate or not. Miller wont hold grudges nor will he kept track of who does it and who doesnt.

i no how hard it is to run a server like this, but if you cant resolve problems and bugs, and add new things, in a timely matter then you shouldnt be doing it. I understand private lives come first but i have read about all of the support complaints in the past on the forum when i was searching for something, and it seems like from wat i read that things werent so good last fall... if you cant do it in your time then you should think about getting help in doing it.
ok fellas you heard him lets shut it down.....i think not!

I don’t like to enter into silly discussion; however, you have a thick-skin and now become tedious to start the criticism of the game when you have only just joined this year.

Look at all your posts. You asked typical first-starter questions, we have answered in good-faith your questions, to this you have picked up on the game well, now you want to become the expert and attack the very game you are playing for FREE

No-one is demanding you donate, Miller is 1st to say, if you like the game / can afford it / then it is appreciated.
You play for free, and the game is improving all the time, sure there are bugs / issues and alterations that need correcting, Miller is all this weekend and even last week working on a number of things and as time goes will be added / fixed or adjusted.
Holding a shot-gun over the game of (You Fix - I will pay) isnt the way to make friends.

It's been a crazy week and I apologize to all for my delayed responses over the past couple of days. Firstly, I think it's fair for you to expect improvement if you're willing to donate. The reason people donate is because they believe in the project and want to see development continue. If they think development may not continue, there's not much need for the donation and will turn into a waste of money for them. I assure you, development will continue.
The spelling for Ottawa is a quick fix, and I'll take care of that today. To be honest, I spent about 2 hours 5 years ago dumping in as many cities as I could possibly fit in just to test whether or not the game actually worked. Ottawa's spelling is a casualty of that hasty process.
Sorting on the columns is a bug that is keeping me quite baffled. I have fixed it on several occasions, but for some reason it keeps coming back. Same with showing the logo's. It may have been domain issues with the new server, but until I can figure out what's causing it, all I can do is continually fix the same bug.
As far as the audio ads, there's a lot going on behind the scenes on that. Firstly, the U.S. is entering a recession, and the hardest hit is going to be the internet advertising sector. Already, we've seen our advertising revenues decline by about 40%, and many other sites are seeing the same. We're entering what may be the next dot com bust, and this time AE has some exposure. Of course it doesn't help that my employer lost $900 million last year, so I'm playing the real economic game of keeping the simulated economic game on the net. I'm shoring up the hatches to make sure we can cover what needs to be covered.
Will audio ads work? Don't know. The reason they're such an opportunity for us is because they're based off of hits, not unique visitors. As you can imagine, this site has a high number of hits, but minimal unique visitors. Will it work? Don't know. If they don't, I'll get rid of them and try to defer the cost of the server another way. But the only reason I considered them is because I can warn the players before they log in and are surprised by someone talking to them, and because there is a lot of research on 5-second ads being unobtrusive. Another positive aspect is that you should hear no two ads within 3 minutes.
All of this adds to my scheme of getting stinking rich. So far it has backfired entirely, so I guess I'll just keep developing the game

I lost money when the transfer of servers happened.. i posted about it.. reponses was.. its a free game get over it. your not paying to play it... well all the other sites i play at that are free, if you lose something or something happens that isnt your fault they will give you back wat you have lost. they also have more than one person keeping up the site. also if there a bugs they get fixed that day after the bug is posted about. all i was saying is that you might want to get help if you cant handle it all.

I've been working hard on the AE development site which will keep track of all development and all developers. You can see it at http://www.airlineem...net/development. Not much to it yet, but with the bug reporting software up, and the new subversion client running, collaborative development can truly begin.
thats a good start miller... i never ment for you to stop but just to try an get help... hope you are able to get some people to help you with it....
i had a site and it was only me doing it. it lasted 6 months good, then it started to get bugs, and there werent many people so i just decided to close it down...
