I think the demand in this area needs to be increased to a realistic level.

I have been trying to put together an airline based in Australia (my home country). I have used Sydney as my base but I have noticed something. It seams to me that the demand in Australia is far too low. I tried to create flights between Sydney and Newcastle. Despite the fact that I have no competition no matter what price I set I cannot make a profit. I also created a flight between Brisbane and Darwin. With no competition and a price of $49 I had a 0% load factor. In real life both these routes have many flights a week with good loads. QANTAS flies Bris to Darwin and their ticket is $700 one way! Also Sydney to Adelaide. I had a frequency of 4 and my profit went into the red. In real life there is about 20 flights a day between Syd and Adl with an average price of $300. Eveytime I have flown this route the loads have been above 80%.
I think the demand in this area needs to be increased to a realistic level.
Dont know if this would work, but perhaps the script into take into consideration the level of GDP of the country? Thus allowing for certain countries with higher GDP to accommodate higher prices, considering they will be able to afford them.
And yes u are right. Most transcontinental flights from the East coast to Perth (return!!) cost as much or more than flying to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok or even to Japan... and QF use the B747-300 on the route daily!!!

This might be a bee's nest, because you'd have to adjust costs of operation, as well. Consider fuel alone. I don't know how widely jet fuel varies, but if it's like gasoline, the cost of operating out of Kuwait or Venezuela is dramatically different than any place in Europe, or these days, even USA.

Seens screwed !!! disagree, the new Beta testing works well, what is the issue is:Those aren;t the only places like that.....
the Whole Load Factor Script seems to be screwed.........
As more and more players enter the route which commands high demmand, the computer system is lagging and taking a long time to calculate other players routes as well as your own.
Once you are on this route and update or add the route, you will be well advised to go back to that route 5 mins later (give computer time to calculate) and reset it, you will find a vast difference.
The gates that have been added, Miller is adressing this issue, remember this is a test bed (sim2) for Miller, we play to be Miller's (Crash Test Dummies) We make comments on the issues and bugs and Miller reads them all.
It is much better, even with limited gates and incorrect values than in past rounds.
