Question about Used Aircraft Purchases

I also noticed that they are pricing these aircraft several million higher than what it costs to purchase them from the manufacturer as a "new" plane. I'm in a quandary as to why anyone would purchase a plane for several million more than can be had for the same plane from the vender, unless it's something to do with manufacturing time.
Am I missing something here? :puzzled:

Another reason is because you can only get 2 new planes from a manufactuer each month if you want more to expand you may buy them on the used market at a premium.
Being a broker and simply buying and selling new planes can be very profitable. It's all I did last game but you have to know what the market wants.

Well, I'm new (about a week) to AE and I've noticed that there seems to be a fair number of people selling used aircraft with "0" year valuation on them. I'm assuming these represent people selling new birds that they just purchased from Airbus, Boeing, ect....
Miller disabled the aircraft ageing system in sim2, so you either get the 5 year old Beech 1900D's/ the BAe J-31, or the 0 year old Airbus or whatever you wish to buy.

well then why do we still have to pay the aircraft depreciation?
just looked at my finances...
i had 3 old 1900Ds...
i have sold 2 of them and my deprecoation has been going down... so once i sell this last one, im guessing i wont have to pay it anymore...

but once u add in the A/c depreciation in then you should get the same number as what it says in the game...
should or do?
Depreciation isn't actually an expense. It is the accounting method to show the reduction in asset value as your aircraft age and lose value.

Aircraft depreciation isn't actually paid. It is just the accounting mechanism to account for a loss in value as aircraft age. I'm not sure why it still thinks the 5 year old aircraft are aging, but you can pretty much ignore it.
I still remember the first round i played when depreciation was working and u could buy 20 year old planes off the used market to fly ur routes. Of course, at that time aswell, the older the plane got, the more fuel it would use and the maintenance cost for that would increase, since its gets older, it needs more TLC.
Hopefully we can see that returning
