I've taken a lot of time lately to get back into the swing of things and improve the game. Has it had any effect?
Miller, a lot of the older longer players of this game would appreciate you returning to (Keep this Sim Alive)
You would have your reasons for being away so long and letting the game get to a state that it was in, however that’s your own business and we have no right asking, so myself, I am pleased you have taken the time to re-vamp AE, by adding this new avenue may get AE back to some respect that players should show.
Keeping an (Active) role on the game will only keep the AE sim advancing once again.
Thumbs up from me

However, in any respect its progress at least & more than I was hoping for in an update! Really looking forward to the sim2 reset as well!
*I'm not whining by the way, so please, none of the standard-response 'well its a free game, so deal with it' stuff people. I'm just pointing it out. If its been said before, then profuse apologies for not extensively trawling the forum until my clicking finger falls off...

But the poll vote number will tell you that many vacated AE and now you must look at advertising in different areas to gain new members.
Like the changes
However the poll number of voters is (Voters: 13)
Yet 410 airlines are in the 1946 sim

It's not fantastic yet, as there are still creases to iron out in the game, but it's still good. KUTGW =)

Your assumption that the number of people who have voted in the poll represents the number of people on the forum is grossly flawed logically. (In fact due to human nature a "normal" person does not routinely vote in polls or take surveys)But the poll vote number will tell you that many vacated AE and now you must look at advertising in different areas to gain new members.

As I discussed before (while trying to dispute Watchdog's claim that the game was dead), from different data sources there were 70+ active members in the forums and 200+ members in the game right before the reset (what "active" actually constituted I never found out), this seems to be somewhat confirmed by the fact that around 250 airlines signed up the first day (assuming ~ 10% were feeders, this means there were a good number of airlines checking everyday even at the end of what I consider to be the worst round we've ever had).
But I digress.

Perhaps the next round should be a crazy round from 1918 - 1939... *grin*

I am no web expert but if I take what I see as factual then thats the way I read it.
As I reply there is 26 voters to this topic poll.
I see why you state above the reg forum members hits, but can you explain why there is such a vast difference in actual members (Visits) against say web-crawlers and bots who search the WWW?:puzzled:
I have looked at (On Line Players) and seen 1 member with 39 visitors. Are you trying to say that those 39 Visitors are all members looking without signing in?
Still, we have run against this question many times and the amount of members in the game just a few weeks after any reset verses the visitors and members in the forum is and tells a different story.
Moderators who look at the forum controll numbers may shed some light on this......
This is what I just looked at:

As for AE as a whole, it's the best out there IMO as far as airline simulation. I'd have really enjoyed the challenge of the new sim 1 if it were to start after all my exams.

Exams are no excuse for not playing AE .

Sim 2: My first Q400 is pulling in $1.9m+. It makes it tempting to stick every new plane I get on that route.
Back to the drawing board again.
I figured I'd try something different for a change and started in Denver. Unfortunately routes into JAC, BOI, COS, and all of the smaller cities that are in the 100-500 mile range, would barley make a profit. One of them was even in the negative with only one frequency and no competition.
I see a few people are already sticking as many aircraft as they can on certain routes. I seriously think we should be limited to 2-3 gates per non-terminaled or non-home base airports. This would eliminate people having 50+ frequencies on the same route.

Time to dump a couple more "super-routes" in the coming game "months" before seeing what hubbing does...
Another thing I noticed is, the bankrupt script is fixed at every 2 weeks, regardless of a reset!
