Hey guys. Anyone in here a ramp worker (ESE) for NWA? (or any other airline) I just got hired and am flying to DTW for a week of training and am really excited about finally getting to persue a carrer in aviation. If anyone has comments or stories or whatnot about workin on the ramp feel free to share em with me. I dont wanna look like too much of a rookie! haha

I don't know any stories, but I know a ton of people who do work for NWA. I live about a block away from Northwest's headquarters and not too far from the MSP airport, so you can probably get an idea of how many people I know who work there.

Yea, i can imagine. Half the city must work for NWA. I was just up there in MSP for processing, and i really like it there.

Add this: I live in the same suburb as NWA's headquarters, and the airport is next to the suburb I live in, too.

Not really. They put a weird fence up along most of the only viewing area (all the other sides are along freeways), so you can't see much. Plus, that runway is pretty much only used for CRJs and DC-9s.

By one of my friend's houses, though, you can see (other then CRJs and DC-9s) a lot of A330s. I saw three in a half an hour once.

Normally it's only 2, but I think a plane got delayed or something. The only reason you can see 2 on the same day at the same spot is that they're temporarily rerouting planes onto different runways because one of the runways is/was closed. I don't know the latest.

I love when DTW closes one of their runways and they have to use 9R/27L. I always go to the side of Middelbelt Rd. and the planes fly less than 100 feet over my head. Amazing lol.

BTW, my training is complete and my first day on the MCO ramp is wednesday!!
Long live NWA!
