Buying Used Aircraft

Whats the deal!? People selling used planes over the price of new ones:puzzled:

To let everyone know.. anyone with a good mind would know that anybody would choose the new aircraft over the used one if the used one is over the price of the new aircraft... Are people that stunded!?

The planes are overpriced yet they still sell due to this scenario:

An airline has loadsa money and wants to expand but can only get 2 planes a month per manufacture plus a massive order backlog, which might not be good enough so they prefer the more expensive but immediate used market.

personally i think some planes on the market are priced a bit outta their league but there u go...

Thats has nothing to do with what I said! I didn't say everyone was stupid at all! But in real life an airline wouldn't save up money to but a USED aircraft if they could buy a fresh NEW aircraft for cheaper.. Thats not realistic at all. My ranking has nothing to do with this ...

Really I agree with UAL ! Before you post check something.... Now it isn't really that important but later on the game you will see why ... If you order a plane then it coudl take 25 days (in real life) before you'll get it . While if you buy a used one you have it directly ! But please I see you are a newbie, but do some research first pls

Well you also can't lease aircraft here. ALL airlines almost lease their aircraft they don't buy 'new ones'

Woutertje if u had done some more research on the delivery script , you would have known it will never take u 25 REAl days for an ordered plane to arrive , unless we got like 2500 active airlines

Its delivery times....thats all it is...and people willing to take adv of that.

That statement makes no since at all. If they were priced out of their league like you say than they would not sell. Its basic economics! SUPPLY AND DEMAND!

This statement is also very very untrue. If you have an airline that finds itself in need of a large jet because they just signed a big contract with some travel company what are they going to do?

OPTION 1: Order a new 777 and wait 3 years for delivery.

OPTION 2: Buy a used DC-10 and start flying.

Of course option 2! If they wait for the 777 the opportunity will be gone. Same with this game. If you want to become good at it you will learn that the more aircraft you fly the more money you will make. It is good to find routes that pay a lot and use strategy but it all comes down to how many aircraft you fly. If I wait for 3 months to get my A319 when I could have just bought it on the used market I will loose more than the value of the aircraft just waiting. Now if you don't have the funds to do the used market that is an entirely different thing, but you have no right to talk trash about the people that do.

Now take my free advise and order as many planes as you can. Find out what plane you can get your hands on first and order em!

Wahaha Theotje ... Well It is just to prove how long deliveries can be... Euh I know what the sentence is in Dutch but not english . Since you are dutch : "Het was maar bij wijze van spreke", and I know that last round The order blog of Boeing could have been easely over the 30 pages... And okay there are companies who order dosan aircraft at the same time but still, you have to wait long, And that's my point of view.

In most cases its GOOD to have overpriced planes, it helps both the buyer and seller. However there are extremes where people get greedy and slap on huge prices for aircraft that should only have a price of may be 10% over value.

It's required to be taken in senior year of high school (Economics).......and even if supply and demand...they are still expensive for most...then again...im the guy who tries to buy every plane undervalue...but we'll see.

Its still an undervalue buy

But how can you figure out what is the best price? Its extremely difficult and obviously due to the assumptions that the game is based on you cannot accurately follow the real world prices etc.

A330's at 50mil over value is a rip off though, I know that much.

at the end of the day no one is forcing you to hand over wonga for these planes..buy new ones if you want but shutup moaning about it
