I've noticed a large jump in airlines on domestic routes in Australia. I chose to start in Australia as I live here. Why would other airlines choose to start in such a small market?
This is a genuine question as the thought process behind choosing where you start your airline interests me.

There are a number of players from AUS, many like to start in their own backyard for sementail reasons Then they find the returns low and move on.

aussie markets on AE lack any real "market" it really is hard to work there, since theres only the major citys (missing: Hobart, Darwin, Canberra, Newcastle, Cairn) to name a few.
If those citys where added you would see a new market start growing! (well to compete with Europe and North America)

Australia's always like this You start off nicely, then people just come on and kill your profits off. The reasons behind this is Australia just has so many routes (along with NZ), then you have to go longhaul...

I can't understand why people come into Australia "Months" after the game has started. Is it just because they want to stuff things up for the airlines who started in Australia?
Why put a 1900D on and charge insanely low prices on routes that "Original Aussies" have Q400s, ATR-72s and ATR-42s on? In the long run they will have to pull the 1900D. They are only hurting the airlines who started in Australia as the market is so small.

The reason is very clear, in the real world, Australia would be one of the highest Domestic ticket pricing structure of any western country, so players think that the good prices will be in AE also, only to find it is far from the real world
