Just out of curiosity, I looked into why all the Euro cities that have no gates are like so. I noticed that at Milan, a few airlines are all similar in market share. Even weirder, there are a few routes with only one airline, all in the leaderboard, and that airline has only one route using a few aircraft on that sole route.. Even weirder yet, all but a few seem to be set at $200.

Is it just me, or is it too strange to be coincidence?

The airlines/routes are:
Milan-Bologne (JipAir, 9% of Milan's market share, 8 gates)
Milan-Nice (Goosair, 8%, 5 gates)
Milan-Zurich (Woofair, 9%, 5 gates)
Milan-Munich (ventilatair, 5%, 5 gates)
Milan-Genoa (Goose Air, <5%, 4 gates)
Milan-Rome (Goose Airways, <5%, 2 gates)
Milan-Geneva (HVA-AIR, <5%, 5 gates)
Milan-Venice (AgnesAir, 7%, 5 gates)
Milan-Vienna (amsterdam, <5%, 4 gates)
Milan-Naples (Bloddy Air, 4%, 3 gates)

For a grand totle of 10 airlines and routes, probably at least 45% market share, and 46 gates. I guess someone took gate reservation a little too far?

I think someone needs to be banned...:airplane

Some locations city gates go fast, however you name the airlines and unless there is an ISP tracking on those airlines from one player then (Sure) action should be taken from AE, but if not it is just one of those things we all must put up in this game :P

Another reason why we suddenly jumped from 550 to 700+ airlines.

most of these airlines where @ MXP in the first 2 days after the last reset .Just flying their 2 beeches between MXP and a 2nd city .MXP gates were already gone 3 AE months into the game :P. I surely hope these airlines get deleted this round after 2-weeks in-activity .

Their was quite an extensive problem with airlines gate hogging at JFK and I believe Dulles in the last round. This wasnt small scale as reporter earlier in the thread but 20+ gates. One airline was flying from La Guardia to JFK with J31s holding 20+ gates.

This is a problem thats quite widespread i believe but one that is quite hard to detect and prevent. Being quite open and honest I am going to hold my hand up to flying a single short hop one way from CDG to Orly. I had two ATRs delivered last month and over-estimated the amount of gates I needed at Orly. In order that I dont loose the gate I have one of my aircraft flying a quick hop to keep the gate until a further aircraft is delivered next month.

I think the problem of wholesale gate monopolising by flying repeated short hops is one that should not be allowed and should be looked at. If it is deemed that its unfair practise then the gates should be removed.

If anyone objects to my single inter-paris hop then please reply here and i will drop the route.

It should be ok as long as your airline is the one doing the gate holding and your still profitable. I have a few aircraft flying LAX-BUR or LAX-ONT just to hold gates and it does bring a small profit. But, for those that are creating multiple airlines to hold gates for their main airline, they should be deleted.

I agree with drv4truk here. Holding a gate is hardly unethical. Heck, JetBlue does it at OAK and LGB in real life. What is unethical is creating multiple airlines, all flying one route each, holding tons of gates. If anyone sees other instances like such at airports, then I encourage them to post it here, or in another thread.

very true. i think if gates get scarce and someone wants to hoard them go ahead. doing 20 freq with a beech isnt a sin either, just sometimes annoying. but i dont see any big deal with people hoarding gates with their airline. i think that all feeders should be eliminated promptly though as it IS cheating to be using those. the main airline that has the feeders should be banned as well but thats just my opinion

Easy to solve that kind of thing:
Auto-Bancruptcy if the value of the airline is less than 50% of the fleet value. That would clear a few gates out from time to time and you have to make money (or not loose a lot) to hog gates.

- sorry, this post is actually a suggestion, not a bug

The airline known as 'Amsterdam' should definatley be looked at by the cheat police. It may have already as it has no income for the past two months although it still holds gates and aircraft.

LAX-ONT exists in reality. UA flies it. I have flown it several times. Served with a EMB-120, its a 13 minute flight, flown hourly during the day. But to get to LAX its TONS better than trying to drive.

Problem with Auto Bankruptcy and the current system (2 weeks..etc) is that they delete the airline and all planes....BUT NOT THE ROUTES! I recall last round, Air Dinosat was deleted, but I could still see him on routes. Don't know if that has been resolved or not...and he was charging $800 per flight when the avg was less than half that...but still...just another wierd thing.

As for MXP, I heard from Maestro they only have 25 gates...so you'd expect it to be gone quickly.
