Such blant gate holding? Should buying out gates and then flying massive amounts of frequencies between a very near city be illegal in the game? It limits compition and the reason why we have gate limits to if you are not using them they are taken away?

There should be away to control this dirty way of playing this game. Such as freqenceny restrictions on certian routes or just people being honest? (I rather laugh at the honesty one... most of the people that heavily advertise their psuedo greatness at this game pratice dirty tactics to prevent compitition... they are not really playing the game, just finding ways around the system set in place that is there to control and equalize the playing feild)

I agree wholeheartedly this is not right. You get absoloutley no financial gain from flying a route as short as this so it is blatant gate holding. I dont know if the AE team can do anything about it although I hope they can for the good of the game. Until they do take comfort that Mr Yankee is wasting millions of dollars on gate leasing, wasting money flying a route that will make no profit and using up valuable airframe hours for no point.

In the previous round Mr Yankee made a menace of hinself in Europe flying very short routes with A330s forcing many established European operators off thier long standing routes.

Rant over.

This pratice has been going on for a while now, some players will flame you for posting this, as it sounds like you are bitter at the other players on routes you hold, others will agree with you as they also have had this happen. Problem is, there are Two Cities, and an Aircraft that can fly, where you buy gates and fly has NO restrictions at all in the game, therefore, others doing this gate HOGGING to stop others from entering that city is well within the rules of the game. Gate HOGGING in V3 needs to be looked at, or Slot Hogging whatever the case as if there is limits on a monolopy in one area this will stop this. Just my thought :)

Commonplace tactic, even in the Real World.

FedEx had some valuable slots at Narita which they couldn't fill during the low yields from the SARS epidemic. What do they do? Rent a Cessna to fill the slot.

That was during an epidemic. To the best of my knowledge, AE doesn't have epidemics...at least not the last time I checked.

I can live with the gate hogging, but only if the airline makes a profit. If they dont then they are blatently there to disrupt the game for serious players.

I know this has been suggested before and please dont blaze me for it, but in V3, if an airline makes a loss for 2 AE years then why not make it bankrupt? The owner would have had ample time change things.

Its a suggestion anyway

I don't see a problem with it...tactics are there to win/loose you the game, however crazy they may be!

Considering the dearth of gates availible by end of year 2 last round, I would think that holding scarce gates for future expansion is a legitimate tactic.

We don't know Y's intent so it is a little early to call him out. Review again in year 3.

I can see it being a fairly dirty move, but in a game of $1 fares, etc. it's anything goes.

Some limits would be nice...no fares below $50....no routes below 50 nm, only 25 gates until you must build your own terminal and perhaps lowering the terminal costs, limiting frequencies, etc etc.....but it is a game
