Food: We all need to eat it. It brings people together even if they don't speak the same language.
To me cooking is the most human activity people can take part in, considering we're pretty much the only species that does it. Even as simple as taking a cold hunk of meat and turning it into a beautiful steak.
And growing up in a family big on home cooking when I left the nest I needed to apply skills imparted upon me by my mom, dad and Chef John on YouTube to eat well. So I guess I'm just curious what you like to cook and what would you like to take a crack at cooking? Do you prefer starting from complete scratch with raw ingredients? And what's good to eat in your neck of the woods?
From me I like to make my great grandma's all-day Sunday sauce (the Italian-American staple) on some hand made tagliatelle, my mom's korokke recipe, fried shrimp and katsu, NOLA style barbecue shrimp (actually had this for dinner tonight), my muffin-tin sized apple pies, confit byaldi is great if I'm in the mood to slice an asston of vegetables very thinly, my orange tiramisu made with some Grand Marnier and orange zest, beouf bourgeinon (Julia Child's beouf bourgeinon), I make a pretty ****ing mean chili, and just a simple clam spaghetti with a white wine sauce.
Anyway I'm just curious as to what you guys out there like to cook and like to eat.
