Hi all,

I would like to suggest two things in case they haven't been suggested before.

First, can we get and engine upgrade feature as to allow us to upgrade A/C models with newer or even older engines in game, much like doing seat configurations. Obviously there would be a cost too this. But it makes sense that some airlines might want to upgrade the A/C performance with newer compatible engines over time.

Second can we get more worlds that start from the beginning i.e. late 40's early 50's til 2025ish. The reason I ask is that it would make the game more enjoyable then just doing little segments later in the century. It just seems to be a a lot more smaller segments in the later half then their that span the whole time of aviation. I remember seeing similar post asking for this as well.

Thx

lots of posts have been made about longer worlds - I wish it would happen! the closed you'll get is R0, at 1950-2000, or R1, at 1955-2005. Engine upgrades - it would have to cost a lot - put this in the suggestions subforum.

Is that even possible? For example I buy an aircraft from the A320 with the CFM-56 engine and then for some weird reason I want to change it to IAE V2500.. I don't think that's even possible in real life.

yeah it is - Pratt&whittney uses the 747SP with different engines all the time as a testbed, and plus normal airlines CAN change out the engines if they want to, for example, if there is an engine failure and they want to replace the broken one, they might as well replace both, and who cares what type?

Can you find an instance of an engine failure that required the entire engine to be replaced where they actually replaced the whole engine instead of just scrapping and replacing the aircraft? I feel like its not worth it to replace an entire engine ever.

Qantas' A380 incident. RR had to replace every single engine on the plane

AC's flight once from YYZ-PEK - GE had to replace the left (i think) engine after it blew out

They did change the engine however it's the very same engine. Thing is... Is there even a case where an airline purposely changed the engine model from their aircraft like from RR to PW?

Even if they can I think it makes no sense lol why would someone change the engine they have chosen from the start..

Changing the engine type on an aircraft is a bit more involved than people think. For starters, the engine nacelles are different and may require different mounting on the wing. Second, the engine controls and software would have to be switched which may or may not be possible. While it can be done, it is very expensive and is usually only done in cases where a different engine type will produce significant savings in fuel costs.
