Hi there,

I've just come across something slightly confusing: on a route between two cities the demand might be for say 15 daily pax in Y, but there is one airline in particular that provides upwards of 1000 daily Y seats for that city pair. This airline seems to do this for a few city pairs I've found - there are probably many more. Just wondering what is going on here? Obviously it can't be profitable.

Cheers,

Michael

The airline probably has very big hubs at one or both of those airports, so he will be getting a lot of blue connecting passengers.

If an airline builds a lot of hubs, and transports a lot of passengers, then a significant percentage of those connecting (purple) passengers become available to fill seats without regard to daily demand (green passengers).

Your assumption that an airline with 1000's of available seats not being profitable is not just wrong, but spectacularly wrong.

This is why I advise players to build hubs wherever possible and fly from hub to hub.  Once you reach the point where you are transporting 100,000 - plus passengers total among all your routes, 1000 seats on a route is quite doable!

Thanks everyone for the replies, I'd completely forgotten about that mechanic in the game (been a while since I last played). Makes sense now though :)

Unless you want to get into literally any forum alliance ever, I strongly recommend ignoring this point

i agree. Universal was pretty lax about this, but we too are starting to enforce no-spamming rules.
