So, obligatory new player first post. Name's "Fallen Advent", Though I tend to just go by "Advent" since the "Fallen" bit tends to change from game to game depending on username availability. Not to mention I came up with the thing back in like... 2003 or something like that when I started playing Guild Wars, so it has angst-y teen written all over it..

I'll get this out of the way, I am by no means an aviation enthusiast. I honestly have only been on a plane a couple times and even then it was mainly for going on vacation.

I am however, really into strategy and tycoon games. Played Airline Manager & Airline Manager 2 on facebook. Saw this and figured I'd pick it up. And all I can say is that I feel completely out of my depth.

Here's my current sandbox attempt. I'm taking things slowly this time to get my bearings and get an idea of what works and what doesn't. Kinda playing copy cat with the people at the top of the leaderboard as well to experiment with how their setups are different than what I was thinking of using.

So, Hello everyone! Hope to stick around for a while and see if I can make heads or tails of this game. With luck it may turn into a good game to play when I get sick of staring at Civ or Hearts Of Iron

We are all out of our depth here: http://ae31.airline-...e3o1&player=266

Most people are torn between strategy and sheer size. Those that can combine the two are the successful players. That guy above knows what he's doing, for example. Only four or five people can play like that, however. Nonetheless, welcome

Welcome to the game. It's a pity you lack don't feel the aviation interest side of things, because without that it just kind of becomes mechanical. Then again, you don't have to be genuinely interested in slaying soldiers or dragons or conquering neighboring lands to play a lot of other games too. It's all about the challenge.

Some players play this to replicate real-world airlines & that can be a fun. Others play to win, & the player referred to above is certainly one of the best & can obliterate any competition. I know this from personal experience! But I also know he's a decent human being & happy to share his secrets.

So good luck & best wishes.

It's all very simple and is in fact quicker than conventional airlines. Unfortunately it requires a brain and I'm still waiting for mine to grow

It's less that I don't feel the aviation interest side of things, and more that I find anything that moves people, or things, interesting.

I have a logistics interest I guess you could say. I play alot of games that put me in the position of managing things or actually being part of the set of cogs that gets people/things from point A->B

So things like Transport Fever, Euro Truck Sim, American Truck Sim, etc etc. You get the point. But while my interests vary widly within the category of logistics, aviation has been a growing interest, and in a sense has recently started to stand out from the pack.

*EDIT* Does the daily profit of a route reflect the gate costs for that route. I assume it doesn't, But I'd figure I'd ask anyways.

Well yes, technically.

The higher gate costs are generally (99% of the time) for the most in-demand airports, so you'll make more profit through getting more flights to cover the demand.
