THIMUN 2017 - Are you attending?

So it seems to me that a few of us here are active MUNers at our respective schools, and some of the people I've met here have had the opportunity to participate at THIMUN, one of the largest MUN conferences in the world! 

I've had the honor of participating the 2016 conference, representing Hungary in GA1. I will also be attending next year's conference as the delegation leader of INTERPOL also in GA1! Some of you here are also going, I feel like there are quite a few AE members there that we don't even realize! 

So here's what I'm asking, will your school be participating at THIMUN 2017? If you are, share your delegation and your committee, we can do a meetup!

My school doesn't have money to do anything outside of Chicago.

Hi, this is the official website http://thimun.org/.

There is a conference in Singapore, The Hague, Montevideo, and Qatar.

Your school's MUN director is the one responsible for signing your school up, there is more information on the website. I believe sign ups The Hague's conference for this year are over, and the montevideo conference was in September I believe. If you are interested though, look out for THIMUN 2018!

This thread was more directed to anyone whose school is definitely participating at the conference in The Hague 2017. 

Many schools are not as rich and full of funds as those in KSA. Even though my school is going for this event, I will not be able to attend because I will be on another MUN event in Dubai. 

That just seems prejudiced, many schools in Saudi are not nearly as funded as you might think. Public schools are pretty poor actually. 

I am just blessed to be going to an international school, and even the people going there aren't "rich" and my school is also in some way underfunded. My school doesn't pay for us to get there, we are paying for this out of our own pockets.

THIMUN is not some privileged get-together of snarky rich boys. There are people attending from all around the world from different backgrounds. Yes, for some schools coming internationally it is a challenge to get there, but some people I met said they made fundraisers to get them to THIMUN. Again, I am blessed enough to be able to afford it. For many others (such as the european schools participating) The Hague is just around the corner. 

Prejudiced comments are not welcome here, get some modesty and have thanks for the blessing of going to a nice school that can afford MUN in the first place.

You're being even more of a prick for saying that you're too busy to go to the Hague because you're going somewhere else. Check yourself before you try to put something on someone else.

Come on not "everyone" is rich. Many Schools in the GCC are Government Funded (UAE) and as far as I know they sponsor their students to go there. Since KSA is really vast maybe not all might be that "good" schools. But Still, My School would be participating in THIMUN like they have done before. Sadly, I will not make it this year cause I'm the Delegate of China in UNSC. 

Again, a prejudiced and severely misinformed comment that shows you know literally nothing about Saudi or THIMUN. 

1. Just because the UAE funds public schools and they do stuff one way you cant expect the same from Saudi Arabia. Yes Saudi schools are government funded but all are pretty much the same. Segregated and they don't even START teaching English till about 5th Grade. Do you expect them to have MUN? Assumptions are dangerous. 
2. Not one public Saudi school goes to THIMUN, they sure as hell don't sponsor them to go somewhere like that when many in those schools come from middle class and lower class families that again don't even speak english and are pretty conservative. Don't pull assumptions out of your ass. 
3. "But Still, My School would be participating in THIMUN like they have done before" Aside from the fact that the statement is irrelevant to al you were saying, you go to a private school in Abu Dhabi, that is a blessing on its own. 
4. I don't care if your school is going or not going, and I don't care if you're the damn Secretary General of a conference in Mozambique. 

Again, this thread is for me to know who in AE is going to THIMUN or not. I did not ask for pretentious snobs.

And if I'm remembering correctly, you were asking people on a public forum about suggestions on how to research for a conference, therefore I doubt this position has much prestige

Exactly. Being a P5 means nothing and isn't worth bragging if you don't live up to being a decent enough delegate to deserve it. 

Always be humble. I could talk about all the conferences I've been to with various positions, but bragging about them doesn't show any self respect or humility.
