Hi everyone, just to ask you: How do you find names for your airlines? I have a big lack of creativity on this ... anyone have a technique or inspiration?

Name your airline Emirates, then start in KJFK.

If you're aiming for something sophisticated, don't use the following suffixes
- fly/jet/air/sky/luft- + (name of country)
- (name of country) + -fly/jet/air/luft/anything related
- (name of country) + International
- (name of country) + -ia
- -go (sounds too Indian LCC )
- anything related to Virgin airlines
- TRUMP + anything
- 'cheap'
- numbers

If you're a Latin American airline it's basically guaranteed the name will be an acronym of something in Spanish.
If you're aiming for something sophisticated, don't use the following suffixes
- fly/jet/air/sky/luft- + (name of country)
- (name of country) + -fly/jet/air/luft/anything related
- (name of country) + International
- (name of country) + -ia
- -go (sounds too Indian LCC )
- anything related to Virgin airlines
- TRUMP + anything
- 'cheap'
- numbers
Thank you, it really helps me a lot

Try thinking about your HQ or your country & think of something that is unique or synonymous to that location.
I once had a regional airline based in Philadelphia called "Cheesesteak Express". The IFS was free Philly Cheesesteaks. You could always google or wiki the city or country to find out about interesting cultural elements & base your name off something like that...

I'm not as experienced as the others on here, but really, the sky is the limit for names (please don't hurt me for that pun). As long as it's, well, SFW, you could technically name your airline whatever you want.
As for me, my newest airline got inspiration from the logo on a beer bottle.

I usually look up the history of the country, or something that is relevant to the whole nation if you're doing a flag or major carrier (Such as Canton Pacific for Hong Kong or Ceylon Airlines for Sri Lanka)
If you're doing a LCC then do something that's suitable for the country you're based in (like IndiGo), or for a multiple branch company like Jetstar choose two words that relate to aviation.
zipp's basically covered the names part. Another one would be 'Avia' which I feel is slightly overused.
Personally when I do flag carriers I mainly do something that directly relates to that country (for example my brand from Costa Rica is called RICA ; Bobze's brand is called Air Switzerland ; DWProski's is called aerobosna & Croatian etc.)

Just take a name from any famous company and add "airlines"

I make up names. I try and relate them to the country of origin, even if abstract. I'm from Canada, so many of my airlines are based there, but have created airlines in Australia, Barbados, US, Kenya, Malta, Mexico, Luxembourg. Here are a few names that I came up with:
aeroCaribe (Mexico)
Aussie Skies (Australia)
Australis (Australia)
Bajan Airlines (Barbados)
Flying Fish (Barbados)
Canada World Airways (Canada)
Canadiana (Canada)
FLY TO (Canada)
GREAT WHITE (Canada)
True North (Canada)
MOOSE
Luxembourg National (Luxembourg)
Luxnat (Luxembourg)
I think you get the idea...

I use FailAir. I used it for a tiny airline in Africa, and now use it for all my airlines. Think of something funny or related to where you operate.
