Flydubai flight 981 was carrying 55 passengers and six crew when it crashed in Rostov-on-Don on Saturday [NZ time], an official at Russia's emergency centre told state news agency Tass.
Air-traffic control and local emergency services said the Boeing 738 was on its second approach to the runway in bad weather.

I was on Twitter earlier, when AirlineGeeks.com and Airways News was tweeting it all out at first, as an unconfirmed crash, and my heart sank when it was confirmed a few short minutes later. What really struck me was that someone retweeted a gif of footage from the airport's security camera, capturing what happened to the jet. A bit dark though, but I could make it out that it basically fell out of the sky, and crashed into a fireball on the ground. The gif's already removed, so good luck trying to find it. I highly doubt that there are any survivors from both a possible stall, and from the intense explosion.
Godspeed to those on FZ981.

You know what's funny, I found lots of russian on other website blaming the crash on Ukraine, the US, ISIS, and even the Jews. I wonder how people could still use this accident as a tool to spread their racism.
Anyway, RIP.

Hold on, if it stalled then it had same faith as the TK B738 some years ago at AMS.
Same type, completely different situation. There was a huge crosswind and I'd assume a bit of a headwind with it. If there was the possibility of a microburst, I wouldn't be surprised. Also, the Turkish flight belly landed, this one seems to have just exploded on touchdown (off the runways). Very sad indeed, hopefully 2016 aviation doesn't continue like this.

I agree, I think it could also be spacial disorientation as a cause or at least partly to blame
