Entirely depends on what aircraft and what era.  Sometimes it's the russian aircraft (tu-114) sometimes it's the western aircraft.  It just depends on what you're using them for

Russian aircraft generally wont be as fuel efficient. The exception, as mentioned above, was the Tu-114, which had the range & seating capacity comparable to a B707 but used only half the fuel because it was an advanced, huge, counter-rotating 4-engine turboprop, rather than a jet. Having said that, some western aircraft of the same era were also incredible gas guzzlers, relative to their seating capacity, such as the VC-10.

It may just come down to geo-political preferences, but generally, just look at the price, the fuel flow, & the seating capacity, & go with whatever you're comfortable with.

The TU 114 never really worked in real  life because the engine/ propeller  noise was literally painful. As the propeller went supersonic.  It was painful even in another aircraft flying nearby.  And nobody could take it.

my personal fav of russian aircraft is Ilyushin Il-18D.. Used it for Rwandair once ago.. performance is comparable to western ones when it comes out, but the Il-18 is simply killing the RLN (Runway Lenght Necassary)!

In S1, I've really come to rely on the Tu-204-100 with RB211s. I use it the way many people use the A320, with the 757-200 tasked with translant and some transcon routes.

Latter pls for me. I'm an LCC and i'd still prefer the latter. Not for cars. I'd want both.
