I can't count how many times this question has been asked. Its ridiculous. 

But what's happening is that so many features are being requested for AE4 and being changed, so that every time AE4 gets further long, it stays in the same place. Therefore, the release of AE4 is TBD.

I haven't seen too many meaningful suggestions/requests recently, most of them are either impractical or exploitful where no sane coder would implement.

I have also seen substantial effort has been put into fixing AE3 recently, which leads me to deduce that AE4 has been abandoned. If they are serious about AE4 there would have had a date for feature freeze.

If I recall correctly, development for AE4 is under way. It is not new features or elements that are being added at this point, its figuring out how to implement the entire logistics of the game. AE4 is supposedly a rewrite from the ground up, and some of the mechanics are being debated in terms of how to best implement them in both a realistic and reasonable manner. Screenshots have been shown by devs in chat from time to time. So, AE4 is most definitely not abandoned.

Abandoned? What's the point in having an AE4 if AE3.1 is so glitchy that a lot of people have stopped playing altogether? I don't see anything wrong with the game as it is, so let's hold on and wait for the finished product.
