just type in the airport ids or name (same way browse airports search works) of the route you want quickly (reasonable amount of clicks). you could add it to browse airports/your personal routes pages or even universally.

Doesn't the Open New Route page do this already?

Apart from keeping often-used airport pairs on the route details screen...yes.

open new route page has a mangled drop down list organized by slots, would probably take me all day 2 find 2 specific airports.

You are able to type in the 3 letter airport code or the airport name there. No need for a manual search

o ok i get it, was looking for an open search box type thing. i'll deal with it. i've never actually used a fold up search box. thanks
i guess my request is an open search box .
edited-if that route search engine was a universal portable (seen always) though that would b so rad. enable/disable it from the options if you aren't fond of it.

Another shortcut, if you know the right IATA codes, is to open an exist route and change the codes in the address box. (ie: ae31.airline-empires.com/route_details.php?city1=ABC&city2=DEF). Pretty much what I do, since it's the quickest way.
