People often complain about airlines having massive fleets so I thought: how about an open S world with a maximum fleet of say 200 or 300 aircraft (I know it might have been mentioned before but I don't have the facilities to check at the current moment). Also as I said: "OPEN S world". This is so that people would be able to find more profitable routes and such to use their limited aircraft more efficiently.

Yes. I agree. I actually found some airlines in S1 that have more than 1000 aircraft in their fleet!

Says AE's most famous offender of the "OH I WANT 10000000 PLANES."

In all honesty, very few people will play in this world because it doesn't warrant for realistic airline growth. US airlines and a few other countries should have more than 300 planes in a fleet to be successful.

When have I ever said that? I'm just saying some people complain and I'm suggesting a world that gets rid of the problem :P
Anyway, allowing different countries to have bigger fleets would kind of defeat the propose. The limited fleet encourages people to go to smaller countries and stop swamping US and China.
And 400 is reasonable but I think 200 or 250 would be a more challenging and exciting world because more people would use the maximum number of aircraft

The limited fleet encourages VLA's more than anything else.

Are airlines with 200-300 A380s and 744Ds more preferable to ones with 3000 or even 30,000 aircraft? :P

To copypaste from another thread (as it's also relevant here)

"I would not mind a hard plane limit in a selected  number of worlds, however I believe doing it as a plane limit would be stupid as it results in airlines simply maximising efficiency in order to effectively evade the limit.

If we limited the number of seats that can be offered per day, we would likely see the limit as being more effective.

I think this is worth trying, simply to see results."

basically the 'seats' method solves the VLA problem.
