I think it would be a lot better and easier to be able to extend an existing terminal by single gates (or even say a minimum of 2). a minimum 5 gates means i am paying fees for gates that i am not using, and it costs $35million to extend - even if i only want 1 slot!

When you extend a terminal to add more gates you do get a discount on existing construction.

I know you get a discount, but the minimum amount you must pay when extending a terminal is $35,000,000:
Startup costs $50,000,000
Gates (min 5) $25,000,000
Existing infrastructure discount -$40,000,000
Total $35,000,000
Since you're not building a new terminal, you should be able to extend by say a single gate and then it would cost $15,000,000 instead of $35,000,000

Yeah, I know, I may have overreacted, but I was surprised that it charged you 10,000,000 for extending it.

I'm just annoyed because there was no warning about this before I built the terminal - the manual says that you don't get charged for extending the terminal (aside from each gate), and it doesn't say very clearly that you must build 5 gates each time.
At least I've learnt now to keep in mind that if I want to extend it'll cost $35mil.
Just a question - can gates you have in a terminal be revoked if you don't use them? or are they not audited like normal public gates?

They are not audited.

That's right. You can have 20-40 gates that you are not using and they will not get taken away. However, you still get charged for them whether you use them or not. Sure would be nice if you could lease those extra gates to other airlines.

Many times. That is one of the things Miller may be working on.
