Avion | Boeing 757-200 | 1980s

Retro revolution on the gallery! Dropping the Avion France name to introduce Avion.

The beginning of the 1980s gang :awesome:

Wait why does it have satcom antennas?

Wait why does it have satcom antennas?

Bro I thought I hid them, one moment

Updated, dumb me forgot to remove the satcom!

Wait why does it have satcom antennas?

Opinions on the overall design now?

    not bad indeed

757's couldn't fly transatlantic in the 80's, ETOPS hadn't been invented yet, and the 757 didn't get ETOPS until the late 90's/early 00's

“ Trans World Airlines operated the first 120-minute ETOPS (ETOPS-120) service on February 1, 1985, with a Boeing 767-200 from Boston to Paris.”

    Thanks! :yahoo:

    This isn't a 767, and a livery like this probably wouldn't last to 1985.

Not every livery is repainted immediately, even if a newer livery was in circulation. If Avion received 1983 and painted it in this livery, it could stay painted in this livery for the coming years. The first 757 ETOPS flight was 1986, which would be within the reasonable timeframe for the 757s livery.
I like it... the ETOPs thing is an issue, despite it happening for the first time in 1986 it really wasn’t in regular use at least to my knowledge on very many if any TATL flights, it would have been a very rare sight, also during the 80’s travel demand required wide bodies to operate those flights. I could perhaps understand a single ETOPS service to JFK but not that many services for that time period. Also questionable that the 757 would even make it to southern Florida from France, the reason I say that is because I used to be crew on the 757 and when our A330 went tech we operated a 757 to Orlando and had to stop in Halifax to refuel. I like the concept but the routes are not realistic for a 757 in the 80’s especially bearing in mind long haul flying was not the reason the 757 was introduced in the first place nor was it marketed for that, it wasn’t until the 2000’s when airlines wanted to open lower yielding routes to secondary airports internationally that the 757 became the aircraft it is today.

Livery over all is good, for some reason the livery reminds me of a TU-204. But good work none the less!
