What I didn't say is that the E190 is on wet lease, and the Q100's are quite cheap, we acquired them on start-up ;).

I would have fleet of 8x J31's for little town routes (Canberra ect..), 8x Dash 8-400's for Larger towns (sydney ect..). I would possibly fly the 717 or E170's for large towns to.

If you were starting an airline tomorrow I don't think you would jumping directly to the very expensive wide body jets or jumbos. I would have to include Bombardier Dash 8s for regional and low PAX routes. It would also be a toss up between the EMB 195 or 190 or the A319. Brilliant, cheap, efficient Jets. Allowing point of difference between the products offerings of most established airlines. Size, speed, efficiency and relative comfort.

Peace!

Depends on my mood and the year:

YEAR 2010

BOEING
CRJ-200LR
CRJ-705
CRJ-900ER
CRJ-1000 < (I'd wait for CRJ-1000ER in 2011)

737-700ER
737-800

747-400ER

767-300ER
767-400

777-200LR
777-300ER

AIRBUS
CRJ-200LR
CRJ-705
CRJ-900ER
CRJ-1000 < (I'd wait for CRJ-1000ER in 2011)

A319
A321

A330-200
A330-300

A380-800

777-200LR
777-300ER
OR
A340-500
A340-600

For LCCs I'll just go with 737s or A320s
For regional I usually go with Q Series and CRJs, once in 50 airlines I'll go with ERJs
757s, I use very rarely, but occasionally

If I ran an airline, I would have a fleet of nothing but 757-200s: The most robust, multi-use platform available. Doesn't guzzle gas, you can get them cheap, and many are still very low cycle. I'd base at MCI and have three daily banks.

If I had to order new, I'd order a fleet of 737-900ER, or more likely a new small widebody like some are speculating. (a 797-800 with 2-2-2 or 2-3-2 seating.) I would also seriously consider the Tu-204-100 with RR engines. A very robust platform with good capacity and built like a tank.

If I did regional routes, they'd be with turboprops. Q400s are nice, I'd use those, but the best in class are the Il-114-100s. I would see if those were available for purchase.

Regards,

I think the KISS Theory is best for airline running. Keep it simple, stupid.

Thus, my fleet would be (and is):

A320 Series for short-haul
A330-200 for medium-long haul
and 777 Series for long haul-high desity

please don't kill us we're just the aquabats

Rethinking my fleet (New Zealand again)
Q400 flying regional services
CS1/300 flying domestic and a limited trans-tasman service
A320/1 flying larger trans-tasman routes (AKL-SYD, MEL, BNE etc. )
787 flying long haul. Maybe the 773 if demand was there.
