Seriously, why do mods ignore this? It completely destroys the game for those of us who don’t want to operate 200000000 flights per day between random city pairs

Because it is not against the rules. Spamlining is a real strategy and is the way some players (including me) enjoy playing the game.

How is being a spammer enjoyable? It's exploiting the game so yes it is cheating.

It is not exploiting or cheating, it is simply a way to play the game. Also, airlines in real life do this too, just on a far lesser extent then what is done here.

i agree with neo because even in the realistic servers there are still spam liners who only care about money so they spam route frequencies despite having 60 year old aircraft

Spamlining isn't exploiting nor cheating, it's just horribly unrealistic and detrimental to the rest of the players.

I think spamlining should be restricted to only the open worlds, maybe to the no-limit worlds as well.

Well, the game is practically abandoned. I don't know if there was a time when mods did something about spamlines, but nowadays they'll hardly do

The one terminal world and the no lease world may better support the style of play you enjoy.

I have successfully used the spamlining strategy in both of those worlds. In fact, one of my awards is from S1.

Yeah, there's a guy in R(delta) that has a bit over 100,000 daily seats on SJC-Sonoma and several other California routes (edit, just saw this sort of amount on OKC-Amarillo!). This is ridiculous - by the way, the server can't even seem to handle me trying to add some flights to it, so at this point, it's actually undermining the game.

I've been playing for years. I took a few months off and came back a few weeks ago. I noticed the number of players seems to be significantly down. Most worlds are practically deserted when they all used to be full. I would suggest to the admins that the ridiculous spamlining is killing the game. It's no fun for me trying to run a realistic airline to be dealing with this crap. The best thing you can do is make all the "realistic" worlds have a realistic limit of like 5 hubs.

Spamlining has not "killed" the game. The reason why many of the worlds have less players currently is because a whole bunch of them just got reset in the past couple weeks, people haven't had to time to rejoin them yet.

Yeah, you might want to take a step back and think about the game relative to its importance in life. Managing 10,000+ planes and hubbing everything to get completely ridiculous passenger counts on preposterous numbers of available seats is just exploiting a flaw in the game, and you seem to think there's something to be proud of in doing that and the amount of time you must commit to that end. I've heard your account is managed by multiple people. Even still, what is the point of that? Just to flat out dominate a game that is just meant for fun by exploiting the hell out of it? There's no accomplishment in that.

I just want to be able to run a semi-realistic airline and not have my experience wrecked by people whose goal is to exploit the game mechanics. I've seen legit, real competition on routes before with multiple carriers fighting before some finally cut their losses. That's fun and realistic. This spamlining stuff with 100,000 daily seats on routes that IRL have maybe 100 daily seats, if they are even flown at all, is positively ridiculous.

Every world used to be more or less full. Certainly well over 75% capacity and many were at 100% capacity on the first day of reset. None of that is true right now. It's painfully obvious the player base is down. If the admins want to let the spamliners exploit the game, then they should consider creating some additional worlds with realistic hub limits and perhaps even halving the passenger counts to create more competition.

Au contraire, We sometimes manage other airlines Ourselves. You may be confused by Our use of the Imperial first pronoun to believe that We are multiple rather than a single dominant Emperor.

You are also flattering yourself in imagining you are difficult to dominate. Once Our airline is set up, We may not log in for days/weeks at a time. When logged in, We are capable of listening to an audiobook or watching a moving picture program while dominating you. You are simply that weak. We demand your obedience or will exact your subjugation.

Were We not The Emperor - were We a mere mortal chained to material circumstances, striving to optimize Our role in a world we do not dominate, maximizing solidarity and brotherhood against the capitalist death drive - then We would commend you. Were this, say, a mere game over which mass struggle for universal human dignity takes precedence, then too we would support your program (though We'd still have to say to Stalin - maybe chill on the Holodomor, Purges, etc.).

As that is not who We are and this is not a mere game, instead We say death to Communism and long live hierarchy! Quintus Varus, give back My legions!

Your invocation of the so called Capitalist Death Drive smacks of sloppy philosophical discourse. In a purely Lacanian sense, and really that is the only school of theory relevant when discussing the basics of psychoanalysis, the death drive does not have any corollary to the actions you undertake in the world of Airline Empires. A much more nuanced reading would be through the lens of the hyper-real as the simulation of capitalism present in the game accelerates and breaks down under pressure to the system, thus achieving a sort of symbolic exchange where the constraints of the real world are eschewed and information about airport travel figures and aircraft types fade out of importance through exploitation of profit sources in the simulation. If Airline Empires is read through the lens of Bjerg as a game, then you have already lost because your discursive act was against the game instead of the law and so you have succumbed to desire as opposed to accepting the unenforced rules of the game and stepping into a world not structured by desire and law.
