I am flying a route from AMS to SEA, and apparently the A340-300 only burns 90% of what a 777-200ER burns. I don't think an A340 is more fuel efficient than a 777.

The A340-300 has a burn rate of 26.0 lb/mi vs the 777-200ERs 26.3 lb/mi.  The A340-300 is about 5% more fuel efficient overall, the A340-600 is heavier however and uses about 10% more fuel then the 777. It all depends on the variant of each aircraft as the other 777s use more fuel then the 200ER.

The A340-300 was/is always more fuel efficient than the 777.  The 777's superior cargo capabilities were a major factor in its sales dominance, but that doesn't matter in the AE simulation.  The A346 was overweight--however, its fuel burn disadvantage to the 773 is dramatically overstated in AE.

Watch out for the A345, I run them on ONLY routes that the 330-200, 330-300, and 340-600 can't quite reach. They're real bad fuel hogs, and should be the very first to be replaced when you can get your hands on the 350 or 787.

I'd just not get the A345 and go with the 777-200LR. It's a much better aircraft.
