Building a terminal, how big should it be?

Hi, I found this game recently and having a great time so far. After struggling a lot in the beginning I finally managed to create a good, profitable airline.

Now venturing into the unknown, my question is about terminal construction. I have maxed my gates availability and I have many aircrafts scheduled for delivery. I'm wondering how big should it be, considering I should need at least 20 gates just to keep up with the aircraft coming soon.

Would it make sense to build one with 20 and expand it later, or am I better off waiting and build it as big as I can? If so, how big? Not sure if building one and expanding it later will end up costing more than waiting for a larger one.

Thanks a lot

In the grand scheme of things, terminal expansion becomes a negligible expense so if cash is tight now, build 20 gates now and expand it later.  Having plenty of spare gates is great while you are rapidly adding routes, but its a waste to have them sit there for years waiting for traffic.

There's a bug with automatically recalculating routes when you expand terminals. You have to go through and manually 'save' every route affected. That alone is a good reason to only build 200 gate terminals, once you have enough cash that it's not an issue.

Early in the game, there's a point where you pretty much have to build at least one or two smaller terminals, but I tend to expand them to max as soon as possible, hopefully before adding too many routes to them!

Thanks for your answers, I ended up building a 30 gates terminal and it was enough until the new aircraft arrived. Expanding the terminal once you have one is not a big deal at all.
