Simple question for anyone who knows what they're doing in OpenTTD: when setting up terminal stations, how would you set up the signals so the operation runs fluidly, e.g. no trains running into tracks in where there are trains already loading on the same track in the platform?

Path signals are your friend :P

What I normally go with is:

Put a path signal (facing outbound from the station) on each platform track, then put path signals facing inbound on all tracks that trains use to get into the station.

If I can convince Tin I'll get him to post a screenshot of what I mean as he uses the same system

I covered this topic back in 2013 when the OpenTTD server was really popular with people wanting to give OpenTTD a go... Tinny's OpenTTD Railway Help Files

Though not in-depth, the basic principles are there! Using JGRs Patchpack these days my stations are usually a mess of programmed signals to direct traffic into certain platforms and over specific junctions without waypoints, but even the same basic principles apply; as you can see best in the 2nd and 3rd pictures.

This is perfect. Thank you!
