Thread Cleaned

This is a forum for civil exchanges of view, not for attacking other members of the community.

Back onto the topic at hand:

As I said previously, America is the kid that bribed their way onto the team, how? They're the ones with the technological capability (and military muscle) to be able to do these things. I find it very easy to believe that due to this fact the governments of France, Germany, etc etc asked the Americans to use their technology to help monitor people of suspicion (both in terms of potential threats to the US and potential threats to their own countries) because you notice the governments didn't seem all that put out about the US spying on their citizens, they only got pissed off when they found out America had taken it the extreme and was spying on the governments and leaders too (in other words to some extent abusing the trust placed in them by the relevant spy agencies of said countries).

Why would he do that? We are Irish, we haven't jumped into any wars since 1919. :P

US president doesn't use a phone generally. :P And when he needs to... it's a phone that's highly encrypted.

Back on the subject of the scandal, I don't think we will trust the US as much, but unfortunately it will be forgotten about in a year's time. JUdging from the last time around anyway

Well while spying is a serious thing there's no real punishment (that's logical)
Back to Enda, he's from Mayo. They can't play hurling for their lives up there so don't be afraid of home with a hurley D:

Something interesting I read said that people who watch spy espionage type shows like Chuck and Homeland tend to forgive the government more for spying. Funny that, I can't find the article. I think I heard that on NPR.

Seems rational. You tend to become more desensitized to it as it becomes semi-glamorous.

I watch a lot of those shows, however, I'm not forgiving... Just becoming apathetic to the idea that anything will be done in our current state.
