Well, my school is thinking of introducing a BYO laptop thingy for next year and so,

I need to find a laptop and I was thinking about the specs

they would be something along the lines of:

Processor: 2.0GHZ and up

RAM 2GB+

HDD 200GB+

OS- Windows 7/Vista/XP (Only vista if I have to)

And a CD/DVD drive

Thanks!

Are you going to game on it or are you just going to use it for school stuff, and what is your budget?

Since you have gotten few serious suggestions, I would suggest that you"

Go for an AMD A8 or a Haswell i3 (the AMD will only go over 2.0ghz with the turbo, but it is a quad core and affordable.

4gb of ram is fine for anyone who doesn't game.

500gb is easy to find.

You might be able to find an HP with Windows 7.

You are looking at 400-500 USD.

I would suggest visiting the subreddit below for more suggestions.

You should be slapped for saying that. 64 bit requires a minimum for 4... You should at least use six... Don't make your computer suffer!

I might end up just building my own desktop for a school project

I'd make a MacBook Air kind of thing. It would have a Windows 8 interface and would be made to last with an i9 procceser.
