Howdy!  I started playing this yesterday and I'm far from having any profitability issues, but I just don't understand the hub/terminal business.  I'm operating out of Incheon, and I just want to know how to operate a satellite or whatever you'd call it within North America, and then eventually Europe (yes, I have played too much Aerobiz).  Is this possible?  Am I an idiot?  Any help would be awesome.

Hello could you tell me how I could cut my costs. I seem to be making a profit through the first three weeks of every month. By the end of the last week, I am flooded with costs of up to 3 million dollars+ when I make 2-3 million in the first three weeks. I think it's my gate fee at SIN. It's like 3M compared to SGN at 400,000+ and DPS at 150,000. Thank you for your time.

Hi, I'm DOC.  You may have noticed that I'm consistently in the number 1 spot and always in the top 10 (aside from R Delta).  Contrary to what people say, I don't have to "spam" by flooding routes at $1 etc.  It's all about efficiency.  There are also countless ways to cut costs and increase revenue (aside from scam IFS).  I'm looking for new players here on AE to teach these ways to.  So, if you're having trouble with airlines or simply want to learn, I'll start an airline and give it to you.  With this, I will share some tricks and I will monitor the airline and I will try to make sure that you get the best out of it.  There is no catch. So, if you're interested, send me a PM and I'll do my best for you   :)

Could you offer any tips on starting airlines for newcomers like us?

I'm currently running a fairly sized airline called USA Connect and I'm making a bit over 1 million per day operating 5-6 aircraft in 3 families. I could use a little help on deciding whether I should buy more aircraft or wait until I earn more money to spend on larger aircraft.

Does the fact that many airlines are based in the US or China ultimately play a large role in making airlines humongous just two months into the game? T_T

Look into routes between your secondary destinations.

You've got PIT-IAD and PIT-PHL but not IAD-PHL.

After all, you're already paying for the gate costs, might as well fill it up.

Your finances aren't available, but keep a nest egg and snowball everything into leasing planes.

If you get to the stage where you have too many on order and slow delivery, branch out to different Families.

You've got Boeing/Fokkers, branch out to Airbus/Douglas or whatever fits the style of Airline you're going for.

Regularly check your planes to buy them out.

1/2 your Lease value goes towards your Buyout price.Your 737-500 may have a very low buyout price.

And if your buyout price is less than your lease, it's pure profit being wasted.

I'm a fairly old player, but I'm always down to learn!  Plus, who doesn't like to top the leaderboard?

Looking for tips, Here is my airline http://ae31.airline-...e3s4e&player=23

So, Right now I feel I'm in a fairly decent spot. Making 200-300m each month. Ranked around 23-24th on the leaderboard.
Unfortunately that is with me running Scam IFS/IFE, which I am looking to change soon. But right now it makes up a solid 75%+ of my profits, So I'm worried about just trimming it out.

I can see some pretty big early mistakes I made, But any advice right now is appreciated.

Based on my knowledge, you're probably flying too far. Shorter haul is much more profitable. I have a number of airlines where I just try to get to 100 rep and maintain it until the end. What I've found is it's very hard to do that when the airline is long-haul oriented.

Ok, Next question, Though I think I may know the answer, so just double checking. Is it cheaper in the long run to just build terminals instead of leasing gates.

Obviously there is an up front cost. But I figure that pays for itself within a couple years. ( I have not done the math as I've just woken up and honestly, don't have the mental power to work with numbers quite yet)

Build terminals either when you desperately need more slots at an airport and can't get any more gates or when you've so much cash ayou couldn't possibly spend it all. Don't ever open a hub at an airport that you don't already have a terminal at though.

Hello! :)

how do I add my custom seat/entertainment configurations to my airplanes? (I'm sorry if there is a place for this it's my first day here so I'm still learning a lot)

Also is it considered rude to add a route at an airport where someone else already has their route set up?

And I'm in a game that is 1970-2000 and I'm only at 1972 but what happens when I get to 2000? Does the game just end there and I restart?

Custom eat configurations you can go to "Configure Cabin Layout" under the Aircraft tab on the left.

Entertainment configurations you can go to "Configure In-Flight Services", also under the Aircraft tab on the left. It includes the IFS and the IFE.

No, it isn't rude to add a route when someone else already has it, that is called competition and is common in the game.

When it gets to 2000, the game ends and all of the airlines will be delete, so you will have to restart.
