Alot of buzz has been going around about delta, falling LF, shrinking profits, major capacity cuts, plus as if it wasn't weren't enough there're merging in NW (which I think is still pretty profitable), is the end near? If not I mean isn't one of the legacies going to go up in flames, it's like a time bomb........until :surrender:

No, don't be worried about Delta. They should be fine. With Northwest merging in and fuel prices going down (for now), things are looking good for them. I'd be more worried about some of the other legacy carriers. I thought I heard or had read that the one in the worst shape right now is US Airways.

It sounds like US Airways is always in trouble. I hope US and Delta don't go, but i am think some discount carriers will. I really hope United doesn't go either.

As much as we like to have all the legacy carries around, it's not really possible in my view, To much capacity and effective competition. If you look at the the US carriers haven't been able to make any of there hubs major international connecting point, they need all need a major game change, airlines come and go Pan-Am and TWA (two that never really innovated) fell and out of the ashes of deregulation came TOO MUCH COMPATICITY :sdrool:, anyway it cant continue at this rate, it is a time were some giants fall and new ones come up, so we canjust watch a wait :patriot:

Delta wont go under. They though will be resizing capacity to lots of markets across north america, due to the combined fleet they current have. Of course, due to the economy crisis, US recession and possible global recession, growth and demand wont be as good as the past few years and thus, might be a good opportunity to get rid of some fleet types which need to be gone.

Obviously, have to wait and see what happens....

Now United might be a whole different story.. :)
