My original flight, an E-190 from JFK to BUF, was cancelled after being delayed from 9:45pm to 3:15am, and finally canceled. I waited in the line for the airline while my dad called JetBlue and got us tickets for the following morning. The CSRs tried their best but with almost half of the outbound flights from JFK canceled, the line took 3 hours! We got booked for free to Syracuse, pretty far away. I tried to get to a different, closer airport but everything was full.

I was in the JFK terminal for about 15 hours. I spent the night there. Terminal 5 had free WiFi that was spotty at best. The food court was great, I had a lot of Philly Cheese Steaks and some coffee. There are 30 gates in Terminal 5. By gates 1-8 and 22-30, there are two great spots to watch takeoffs, I saw a ton of very large aircraft including three A380-800, a few 777-300s, 767s, a few 787s, a South African and Virgin Atlantic A340, and a lot of BA 747s. I would recommend the middle bleachers for a spot when your flight is delayed. There's probably 30 outlets and plenty of space to lay down if needed, with easy access to all gates and the food court.

When our flight was finally ready to board, I was almost sad that I wouldn't be staying longer. But I belong on planes, so it was ok. I was in seat 5D of the E-190, a standard economy seat. I would call it anything but. At 6'1", I usually am concerned by the lack of legroom, especially on regional aircraft. I had a good three inches of space between my knees and the seat in front of me. I could fully stretch my legs and not bother the person in front of me. The aircraft was quiet, and the IFE was pretty good considering it was free. The screen was a little smaller than my Kindle and a little larger than my phone, but the FlyFi worked wonderfully on even my old phone. There was a choice of water, coffee, or juice for a free drink, and then a choice of a cookie or Cheez-its for a free snack. The flight only lasted an hour! If I had flown to Buffalo I would have been upgraded to an Extra Legroom seat, which I have no idea what I would have done with all of that legroom!

Our landing was not especially wonderful, but with a 30mph wind it wasn't bad. The Syracuse airport is small. Bigger than Jamestown, but smaller than Rochester. There's a static 727 cockpit in the airport that I found cool. Parking wasn't bad, and we pretty much were able to get right to the highway from the airport, and I slept the whole ride home.

If it wasn't for the cancellation, I would have rated my experience 5 out of 5, I think. However, JetBlue still deserves a 4 out of 5. The flight was great, and the whole gate experience for the flight I did get on was good. I will add photos when I can.
