Airport data issues - enplanements vs total passengers

Posted by polarscribe on 26 October 2011 - 11:58 PM

OK, I think I see the issue we're running into, after some investigation. Airline Empires appears to use total passenger traffic to rank and list airports, not enplanements.

However, the FAA only provides enplanement data.

The only source of "total passenger traffic" that I can find is the ACI, and their full report costs 500 euros! http://www.aci.aero/...47^2003_725_2__

Otherwise, only the top 30 airports have ACI information publicly available. http://www.airports....5-10812_666_2__

For U.S. airports, I think doubling enplanement data will provide the best rough estimate that we can come up with.

Updating status to: Acknowledged, Waiting for Fix

I will take a look, and try to determine the best procedure for emplanements / passenger numbers.

I have been distracted with adding old aircraft, but I will now start to return to this. I'll update once I've looked into it.

I have used the ACI information to assist in preparing a mass-update to finish these off. I am also starting the process of altering airports to use passenger figures, over emplanements.

I will mark this as fixed for now. If you spot any more airports with errors, please do post a new report.

Thanks.
