#292687 I Tried Spamlining but it didn't work as the forum suggests

Posted by KMRobinson318 on 22 June 2023 - 03:26 PM in General AE Discussion

Good luck dude.

:plane:  :plane:

I, on the other hand, hope all spamliners (defined as those using unrealistic seating layouts and/or unrealistically scam IFE) crash and burn.

#292658 Looking for Guidance airline :)

Posted by KMRobinson318 on 19 June 2023 - 01:07 PM in New Players and Questions

Start with Tupolev Tu-214 and Ilyushin Il-96-400 as these are cheaper to acquire and can get you started quickly, although you'll want to replace them with the A320 and A330 families when you have enough of a cash flow. That's the strategy I use when getting started and I don't do any of that spamlining nonsense.

#292532 A350 or 787?

Posted by KMRobinson318 on 22 May 2023 - 02:47 PM in New Players and Questions

A350-900 is better than the 787-9, but it's harder to choose between the A350-1000 and the 787-10. The 787-8 has no direct competition really.

#292105 A330-300 or 777-200(Not the ER)

Posted by KMRobinson318 on 26 March 2023 - 06:27 AM in General AE Discussion

on what planet?!? explain the math of that one?

The A340-300 has a minimum fuel flow of 39,936 - and you want fuel flow to be as low as possible. The best fuel flow you can get out of the 777-200ER in game terms is 45,203.

Using the same engine option, the A340-300 has a minimum runway length of 8883ft - so if the runway at the airport you're trying to serve is shorter than that then you can't fly the A340-300 to that airport. The A330-300, using the best engine for fuel flow, has a minimum runway length of 7302ft.

The A340-300 has a "turn time" of 90 minutes, against the 75 minutes of the A330-300. If using the best engines for fuel flow the adjusted speed of the A340-300 is also 4mph slower. This means the A330-300 can run more weekly services than the A340-300 can, which is a more significant consideration when assigning aircraft to shorter routes than to longer ones.

Have I "explained the maths" enough?

#292097 A330-200 or 787-8 when starting late in the game calender

Posted by KMRobinson318 on 24 March 2023 - 08:19 AM in General AE Discussion

The maximum range of the A330-200 is much shorter, if that makes any difference. Minimum runway length is similar if you choose the best engine options.

#292093 Most profitable route

Posted by KMRobinson318 on 24 March 2023 - 04:42 AM in General AE Discussion

YYZ-YVR is the biggest draw when I operate in Canada. Currently standing at $3,839,836 daily profit

#292091 A330-300 or 777-200(Not the ER)

Posted by KMRobinson318 on 23 March 2023 - 01:36 PM in General AE Discussion

The A340-300 is superior to the 777-200ER in game terms for mid- to long-distance operations, but is less effective for regional services due to having a longer turn time than the A330-300 and longer minimum runway length.

#292043 regional aircraft

A320 and 737 families both have their advantages and disadvantages; if demand is high enough I would add some A330-300 diagrams.

#292035 Spam vs. Spam

Posted by KMRobinson318 on 10 March 2023 - 03:50 AM in General AE Discussion

why I've got a solution... how about both spamliners take it to the sandbox worlds  :jester3:

Don't encourage them please, it's still generally possible in sandbox worlds to play with realistic seating layouts, as long as you don't try and set up in the US or where a spamliner has already started...

#291604 What on earth is going on here?

Posted by KMRobinson318 on 13 January 2023 - 05:24 AM in New Players and Questions

As the attachment shows, at the start of the new S4B there are 3 different airlines all with variations on the same name. Are they all managed by the same player and is that allowed?

#291421 A380 on Short Haul Routes

Posted by KMRobinson318 on 11 December 2022 - 04:05 AM in General AE Discussion

The extremely high leasing + running costs can become a problem if you get into a price war but if the demand is there then yes it can work. I've got a small number of A380s on short haul myself at the moment.

#291359 Qatar As A Base Is underrated

Posted by KMRobinson318 on 01 December 2022 - 05:34 AM in General AE Discussion

Haven't tried basing an airline in Qatar yet but frequently get my margins decimated by somebody who is, when trying to operate into Doha from wherever I am based...

#291329 Schonefeld (SXF) is dead, long live Brandenburg (BER)

Posted by KMRobinson318 on 29 November 2022 - 12:14 PM in General AE Discussion

If TXL is to be fully replaced, presumably demand for BER will need to be updated to reflect this? With my last airline I still found enough demand to support serving TXL but nowhere near enough to justify opening a route to BER...

#291328 What is your favorite aircraft-airport combination?

Posted by KMRobinson318 on 29 November 2022 - 10:40 AM in General AE Discussion

Luton, A350-900. Overlooked by just about every long-haul competitor, whereas trying to serve LHR I frequently get dragged into price wars...

#291146 Which aircraft is the most efficient?

Posted by KMRobinson318 on 08 November 2022 - 03:36 AM in New Players and Questions

Tu-214s are great for starting out with since they are much cheaper than the equivalent Airbus or Boeing models; ditto the Il-96-400s. The 747-8I is a superb choice later in the game, being more efficient than a 777-300ER...
