My Dad used to fly Comets, VC-10's, Tridents and 1-11's. It's just a shame I never got to go in one

I have to agree with this point here though, I am not paying $90 so I can fly a bunch of pixels across my screen.

Well, what I did was start an airline in a big enough country (Iraq in my case) with less people in it and lease a medium sized, medium rent aircraft. Then I just open routes like there's no tomorrow. Then I get a second identical plane (L188 for me) and do the same. By this time my DOP is at least at over 500,000. Then, once you get enough money (I'm at 35 million at the mo) and just order new aircraft. For me i bought 10 DC9 and 5 Trident's. Then you will just keep growing, by adding routes, increasing your DOP, ordering new aircraft etc. Hope that helps

Well having earned quite a bit more money (now on closer to 30 million) have ordered some DC-9-10 which will allow me to enter the jet age and fly longer routes quicker and more comfortably. I think the DC9 are good for now, but I will likely begin ordering bigger jets when money allows it.

I like the idea but I would prefer it to last until 1980-85 as that's when the good planes begin to come out like the 757, 767, A310 etc

I remember my grandad taking pictures of him flying in the IL-76 in the passenger config on a 20 minute flight from Pyonyang to Orang. Sam Chui's excellent video of a similar flight shows a water leak streaming through the cabin. I flew the IL-62M from Beijing to Pyonyang but got the TU-204 back just hours later. Only did just for the Ilyushin and to say I'd been to North Korea

Well I picked up a second used L188 but when that runs out of hours I am stuffed. I contacted DOC to see. If he could earn me more money but he hasn't really done much (although what he did was great) so maybe an early 727, Trident or 1-11 is my best bet as they all come in under 450,000 per month

My airline currently has a Lockheed L188 which has no hours left. Are there any cheap-ish jet aircraft that I can use to expand? It must cost less than. 450,000 to lease as my airline only has 11 million pounds.
