POW IL 62

POW IL 62

1970 rolled around and POW was doing very well. The airline had attracted enough traffic and secured enough state interest to purchase new airplanes and have a refreshed appearance. The IL 62 was the big target as it had the range to fly almost anywhere it wanted on a single tank, so POW put in an order for 5. The aircraft served them well, connecting eastern Europe to east Asia. Flights from Warsaw to Beijing, Shanghai, Pyongyang and Hanoi via Beijing were opened. The introduction of the IL 62 also permitted for the TU134s and 154s purchased in the previous decade to be reallocated to smaller routes and bring up the offerings of destinations.

ironic, because that's the noise it made as it slammed into an icy moat next to a 19th century fortress on march 14 1980

thats also the noise the engine made immediately prior to slamming into an icy moat next to a 19th century fortress on march 14 1980
