Star's tourism focuses business faced uniquely dire straights during the Covid-19 economic slump and travel lock downs. The airline, for a brief period actually enacted a ground stop on all of its flights. However, thanks in part to federal assistance packages, the airline returned to the sky and its fortunes turned around as the demand for tourism ticked up as lock downs eased. The airline hadn't been sitting on its hands during the pandemic though. The board had devised schemes and new markets for the airline to penetrate. Their most successful was a travel package program called Shooting Star. Since the company's initial public offering, the board had pondered how to open new tourist markets. Most existing markets were already saturated, but if Star could offer travel at a price low enough that people might be willing to accept a less appealing destination, then they would have a virtual monopoly on this new market. Covid's deleterious effects on other sectors of the transportation industry, particularly the hotel, ground transportation, and entertainment industries made putting together an all inclusive package deal much easier. Star's first an most successful series of Shooting Star offerings to date have originated in Knoxville and offered opportunities to enjoy the natural splendor and unnatural splendor of the Great Smokey Mountains and "resort towns" like Pigeon Forge respectively. Shooting Star has been an extremely successful program but it remains to see if it is a sustainable one given that destinations like Gatlinburg are objectively at best moderately appealing. Nevertheless, the airline plans to push ahead and in they have inked a deal with Dollywood to expand their Shooting Star program and become the official airline of the amusement park in the fall 2023 season. Another result of the extensive downtime the executive board enjoyed during the Covid slowdown was a re-examining of the brand's identity. Happy, in his then current iteration looked increasingly like a relic of the 2000s. Delivery of the airline's first new A321neos was delayed to early 2022, but had they been delivered on time it would have been in the current billboard FLYSTAR.COM livery. Executives were no longer as concerned as their predecessors with the idea that customers might not know where to find Star on the web. They were concerned that their airline had developed quite a dated appearance that might turn travelers off. Thus, during the pandemic, the team planned a new identity for the airline. Scrapping Happy was an option they considered but eventually dropped, although they planned to de-emphasize him. Whilst he was somewhat popular with children, older customers were not content to rep the star and this was a particular headache for the airline's valuable credit card program. The new livery is sleek and bright with an eye catching orange. The company says it's a more mature, sophisticated vision for the brand proving that travel can still be child friendly and cheap without being gauche. Certain design critics have compared it to the Cheshire Cat.

    Thank you. I have to say that the 80s livery is probably my favourite but this one is pretty cool. I'm glad you enjoy the progression.
