SYRIA Altitude Club print ad

A 1980s print ad announcing the top-tier configuration of the newly ordered 757-200 airliner.

cool. not many vintage ads on ae these days

good ad, good livery, 30 757's in Syria seems a little bit ambitious to say the least

I think this is a really nice effort. The livery itself has the look of a nice shady carrier although I think the like children's drawn stars are a more 90s touch than the 80s/70s that the rest of the livery gives off. The poster itself is nice although I agree that the quantity of 75s seems a little aggressive and I'm not sure if any mainline carriers would actually do a lounge and take up valuable space in the narrow body. If they sell alcohol I also think that could have some conflict with some Muslim cultural standards.

    Thanks everyone for your thoughts!

I do agree with you all that the 757 order is a stretch, but the entire airline concept that I'm playing with is actually inspired by the Arabian-Gulf airlines like Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Etihad Airways. I strongly believe had the real Syrian Airlines followed an Emirates-Etihad hybrid model, specifically during the 80s and onward, the real-world Syrian Airlines would have been as big as those three today.

Regarding the lounge on a narrow body, my concept is that Syria (fictional airline) decided to make the configuration a 2-class cabin on the 757 (Economy and Business) and instead of having a First-Class, the space at front was turned into a lounge for the Business Class. Alcohol is served even on Muslim-based airlines, such as Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, Middle East Airlines, and many more (excluding Saudia, Air Arabia, EgyptAir).

Again, keep your thoughts coming I really appreciate it!

The Syrian Civil War, Iran-Iraq War, & the Gulf War + many political restrictions from the US and Western Europe says otherwise.

The Civil War didn't occur till 2011. In the Iran-Iraq War, Syria remained neutral as one is considered an ally, the second considered a neighboring Arab country. And the Gulf War happened far from Syrian lands in the 1990s.

UAE and Qatar were involved in the Gulf War which happened in neighboring countries; Kuwait-Iraq.. still, the big three of Middle East (ME3), specifically Emirates, kept growing and flying even towards Baghdad. However, your point on the Civil War in 2011 would have restricted the airline to the point of suffocation.

the war is actually currently ongoing. So there would be no growth until after the war ends

I agree to that, but currently the gameplay I'm in is at 1981. My concept is the airline from 1970s up to the point of 2011, the real Syrian Airlines would've had a great run, and my fictional counterpart (Syria) is my take on that in gameplay.

ok I'm going to say one thing. Your airline is great and syria had that kinda demand back then. but now it wouldn't be as large as syria is a real mess right now.

But I am excited to see what will happen with this brand and where you will take it!

    Looks very neat!
