Boeing 737-200
G-ACLN

Operating alongside the fleet of Boeing 707's was the airline's fleet of Boeing 737-200, purchased from Imperial Airways during the sale and privatization of Imperial Airways Scottish division and formation of Air Caledonia. Just as the Boeing 707 played an integral role in the airline's long-haul operations, the 737 was integral to Air Caledonia's extensive domestic and small European network, starting initially in 1970 with a fleet of just four 737's this would soon grow and by 1976 the airline had 12 of the type in operation.

Out of the 12 operational 737's, Air Caledonia would base 3 at London Heathrow to operate the high-demand domestic flights between London and various airports across Scotland, and 4 would be based at London Gatwick operating under the Air Caledonia Skytours brand Air Caledonia's charter division, operating flights to tourist destinations across Europe. The remainder of the fleet would operate from Glasgow Airport to key cities across Europe and Scandinavia.

The Boeing 737-200 would later be retired in favor of the newer generation of 737s that would continue to grow and operate as the airline's main short-haul airliner.

Oh wow I love this it's amazing and lovely so glad to see it back on the gallery. Colours and font and logo are great I guess my only slight concern is if putting the Scottish flag and not the UK flag on a plane in the 70s would have gone over well. That's like really slight criticism/concern but I adore this great work as usual

I don't think it really would have raised too many eyebrows, especially given that it is on the tail and not next to the registration. If you look at the original Caledonian Airways, you see on their DC's they had the Scottish flag on the nose.
