Air New Zealand Leased Boeing 777-200ER Poster

So you might be thinking wait since when was Singapore Airlines kiwi? and to that I say they always were this isn't actually Singapore Airlines. Well, it is, but these two particular aircraft were not being operated by Singapore Airlines during the time period that they were stripped of the Singapore Airlines branding. Of course, they were being leased to, and operated by good airline partner Air New Zealand. You see, these 2 planes only operated for Air New Zealand for about 1-2 years. There was also an EVA Air 777-300ER that was leased for a similar period of time up until New Zealand went into lockdown thanks to COVID-19.

These planes were leased due to the 787 groundings. Again, I have covered the Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engine issues here: http://www.airline-e...d-boeing-787-9/
The 3 planes were making up for capacity loss as a large chunk of the 787 fleet was unable to operate.
ZK-OKI was formerly 9V-SVL, and ZK-OKJ was formerly 9V-SVG. Both are 777-200ERs. 9V-SVL was originally leased to SQ by Boeing, and it returned to Boeing in March 2018, and started its temporary life with Air New Zealand in June 2018 as ZK-OKI up until April 2019. Meanwhile, 9V-SVG was leased to Air New Zealand by Singapore Airlines themselves from October 2018 up until September 2019 as ZK-OKJ.

ZK-OKJ (9V-SVG): 2002 Boeing 777-212ER | Air New Zealand | Currently: In service with AlisCargo Airlines as EI-GWB

ZK-OJI (9V-SVL): 2002 Boeing 777-212ER | Air New Zealand | Currently: Stored in Victorville and was returned to Boeing as N861BC, last was in service with Surinam Airways as PZ-TCU on lease from Boeing

Actually, PZ-TCU has been returned to Boeing and is stored at Victorville, since 2021. Now registered N861BC.

    Nice work!

    Thanks! Have edited the description

"Hybrid" liveries are always so weird - it's amazing that they exist given how much airlines like to be on brand and it's amazing that more don't exist given that it's expensive to paint planes and airlines are cheapskates
