Southern Pacific 747

Southern Pacific 747

Welcome to the 70s and 80s with Southern Pacific's very swanky livery on a 747 Globespanner. You'll notice the logo is still sort of inspired by the flower but it's a little more "stylized." I shined the bottom of the plane up after alexSD asked me to and we'll just say SPA was very aggressive in keeping the aluminum shiny during this period. It's a big 747 in an archaic looking livery. What more could you ask for?

I'm conflicted on the font but I actually kind of like this ^_^

Thanks. I can see how the font is a tad questionable, I'll go for the meta that someone at SP took a bold choice that demonstrates why bold choices can be dangerous.

What did you do to the metal effects?

Well, I have not yet delved into the world of metallic effects so I sort of just took the texture from the top of the aircraft between the hump and the tail and repeated it below flipped a bit. It doesn't look great but it's also not terrible and it's not totally too bright - AA's SPs were of similar shininess is some photographs.

what? why did you need to flip the metal effects? the metal effects covers the whole fuselage of the plane, including th underbelly

also on the plane it says globespaner, not globespanner.

You realize the plane has its own full metal layer included in the template PSD, right?

In addition, the top and bottom parts of the effects layer are different; While the top of the fuselage reflects the sky, the bottom of the fuselage reflects the ground. This means that you can't simply take the top section of the effects and put it on the bottom, as it no longer reflects the ground and messes up the effects...

Yes I know the plane has a full metal layer, I've frequently used the metal layer in the past. I understand why the bottom is significantly darker and I don't have a problem with that but I was making these liveries for a user and they said it didn't look right (which is fair enough, it's very dark at the bottom on the 741 template) so I took the top and pulled it down to the bottom.

    1) Not all planes are on the ground all of the time

    2) Even if they are on the ground ... https://www.flickr.c...@N05/8532193610
