Surfrider Fokker F28 (Original Livery)

Back in 1970 a little carrier was born on the west coast destined to become one of the US' largest regional airlines, Surfrider began operations with a pair of brand new Fokker F28s flown in direct from the Netherlands. Painted in the airline's distinctive yellow and turquoise livery they would serve in the fleet for until 1996 when they were retired.

Today Surfrider is owned by AeroCalifornia Group and provides the regional arm of the consortium operating mainly under its own brand but also under others in the group. It recently began operating the largest type it has ever flown with the Airbus A220 being the most recent edition to the fleet joining the Bombardier Dash 8, Bombardier CRJ, Embraer E Series and various others

The carrier is well known for its cheery and relaxed atmosphere with flight crew wearing Hawaiian shirts in addition to being the first US carrier to loosen restrictions on employee tattoos and hairstyles. The airline's cocktail service is now well known with every passenger receiving a complimentary drink of their choice from the airline's menu, it also serves a variety of light meal items from its kitchen including avocado on toast and sushi.

Despite only being a regional airline it has big plans for the future with announcements due in the coming months.
